I've had a HORRIBLE two-week long experience with AT&T. First I tried to get an iPhone, then I tried to get a Blackberry Curve, and now I've settled into perfect contentment with the plan I'm on right now. So I bought a white Sony Ericsson
K550i to replace the second Motorola SLVR that I've had die on me in three months.
There were a lot of problems during the whole process, but one part of it makes the least sense to me. I was going to upgrade my plan to include the Blackberry package ($45 a month). I was also going to sign a new two-year contract. This means that I would be paying AT&T an additional $1,080 dollars over this period of time that they would not receive if I was fine with the plan I'm currently operating under.
I figured that maybe this new influx of money and a brand spankin' new two-year agreement would help me get a bit of a discount on the Blackberry Curve, right? No way. $450, and you'd better like it. So I couldn't get the phone for the $200 a new user would get it for, even though AT&T would still be making an additional $830 off of me in the long run. So now they're getting nothing new. Does this make good business sense to anybody? I understand that they must have some sort of agreement with RIM that allows discounts to be assigned only under certain conditions, but I'm not sure.
So anyways, my K550i comes in the mail 2-4 days from now, and I'll be fine doing my Emailing the old-fashioned way...on my computer.
My favorite phone I've ever owned was my SE T637. It was reliable, durable, stylish (at the time), and my friend is actually still using the thing without a hitch, even after four years or so. I've liked every SE that I've gotten my hands on, so I don't expect this one to be any different. The K550i is also a beautiful phone. See below.
