I never buy DVDs anymore--whilst they're cheaper than they used to be, I still think they offer poor value for money. Having said that, however, I will be buying Blade Runner: The Final Cut (Ultimate Collector's Edition). It looks like it's probably going to be the best DVD boxset ever made. I'm unbelievably excited about it; to a truly disturbing degree, in fact.

Am I the only one practically backflipping with joy about this?

Yeah not a bad movie. It certainly has generated quite a cult following. I'm not one of those but I enjoyed the movie when it came out.

Seems like they did a lot but how noticeable will it be. I think of the star wars boxed set where lucas tinkered with some of the post production stuff. Some things changed most didn't and the changes in some cases looked tacked on. I hope that will not be the case with this movie.

I am a big fan of this movie (take a look at my location and my nickname) . I am looking forward to the HD-version.

I have the original crappy version on video and the brilliant directors cut on DVD.

I doubt I'll be buying another version, but it does look good. If I didn't already have the Directors Cut I'd probably get it.

Look where that got Pris.....

I'm going to have to look into this-Blade Runner is one of my first DVDs, so any new edition should be better, but this should be fantastic!

Possibly.

There are more who went in, and never came out again.

Meh on the DVD box set. I've already pre-ordered the HD DVD box set.

(I ordered the Complete, not the Ultimate. I just want the discs, not the promotional packaging.)

I'll be getting a high-def Ultimate edition. The tough decision for me is to buy HD-DVD or Blu-Ray (I have players for both).

If the features are the same, then it comes down to price.

I'd love the briefcase in HD/BD though, looks awesome.

I have the Director's Cut on *whispers* video, and I never bought it on DVD precisely because this boxset has been rumoured to be on its way pretty much since the DVD was invented. Now, finally, it looks like my patience might pay off.

You're right! I think I will keep my celebrations to nothing more strenuous than a smile. This, I think, will be one of the best DVD boxsets ever released: it's one of the few films I like enough to actually be interested enough to bother watching the alternate cuts and extras.
