Thanks for any help offered in the following question.

Is there a small device which will output a jpeg from a memory card to a monitor. My images are 10 mega-pixels each typically.

Digital photoframes seem such poor value and I have LCD monitors lying around waiting to be used for just such a case.

I do not wish to tie up any of my Macs for this type of task.

Thanks again

A very old second hand Mac maybe ? A pizzabox of some sort ? You should scale down your images though, I don't think an old Mac can handle 10mp images.

Just a thought, would an Apple TV box output to a monitor?

If there's something that can go HDMI or component to DVI or VGA, then I guess it could. If the OP has plenty of money, he could just buy a very nice LCD TV. 10 MP images on a large, quality set would look great.

What about a cheap digital camera. Could the video out on the camera be sent to a monitor and the camera be put on slideshow mode?

Or maybe an older used ibook? A video iPod?

Is this something you wan to have always running or what? I feel like we need a little more info about what you want the final setup to be and how much you want to spend.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Thanks for all your suggesteions,

The scenario in which I wish to display my images are domestic, I have thousands of digital images in store from the era of Apple Quicktake to my latest-Leica D3. So 640 x 480 to 10 Mpixel. Images are family snaps including my latest holiday to the Hawaiian islands and Chicago.

I wish the device to run more or less when ever anyone is about ie daylight hours.

Size is important so Pizza boxes seem less attractive than say an iPod sized device. Could I cobble something together from components from the UK equivalent of RadioShack( Maplin)?

Maybe this is a hole in the market that a manufacturer can fill. Most of us will surely have redundant displays sooner or later.
