So I had my mini in for warranty work. I know the logic board is bad, However today when I went to pick it up he claimed they could find nothing wrong. Apple Hardware test confirms that the logic board is bad.. The so called tech there claimed that I didnt know what I was talking about. And then proceeded to tell me that looking at the system wasnt covered under warranty and that I would have to pay 75 dollars.. I told him no and that id be speaking to apple directly.. he said I couldnt have my machine.. luckily it was sitting right on the desk next to me.. so i grabbed it and walked out.

What do you guys think I should do about this mess

Call Apple, there isn't anything else you can do. Ask for another person that can work on it.

Unfortunately as much as Apple tries to enforce policy to their Store employees, they are still just people. People who can choose what they want to (or don't want to) do. I think you just got unlucky and got stuck with someone who didn't feel like helping you. I would take the advice of others and call Apple directly, explain the situation and ask them what they recommend you do.

It appears that this wasn't an Apple Store but a reseller. And Apple would be very interested in hearing that report. Was it an Apple authorized reseller?

Ya take Apple certified RAM, pluck it in and it passes the hardware test? If not, they idiot just booted it, played with it a little, and bills you 75 bucks.

Call first and tell them what's going on before you drive halfway across the state..

At the very least schedule a genius bar appointment on the website: Concierge

Agreed. Forget driving 2 hours. Just call Apple, tell them what the hardware test found, and that it's still under warranty. Then they'll fedex you a return box; you drop it in the mail; and they fix it & return it to you. Much better than driving 4 hours round-trip, especially if the genius bar is fully booked that day (I've seen that before after driving an hour to one myself one day).

He probably was a genius, and had one too many at the bar.

It wasn't at an Apple store, but you would have know that had you read the thread title.

I knew.

I'm sure you'll find lots of geniuses at apple resellers, too.

Just their bar would be a little more hidden, possibly in the locker room.
