I know that Microsoft Intellipoint Mice can use the scroll wheel to zoom, without the need to touch the keyboard. Here's a screenshot.

Can any scrollwheel-button equipped mouse be programmed to do the same? I just got a cheap Targus Laser Bluetooth mouse, and I'd like to zoom in and out the screen with just one hand.

I don't think so. I just checked the settings for my Logitech mouse and I couldn't find anything.

Right, but I'm pretty sure that The Godfather wanted to do this without any keyboard input whatsoever.

there are keyboard shortcuts to zoom in and out so if you have enough free mouse buttons you can set them to those functions. Other than that I don't know how to do it with only the mouse.
