Apparently they have embedded a flight sim in the latest version of Google Earth...with no mention of it.

Marco's Blog: Google Earth Flight Simulator

This is really cool. It took me a minute to get it to work. I had to exit sky and go back to earth before it launched.

Oh, and it's "command option a" on the mac to enter the flight sim.

Homeland security will be paying you a visit.

Actually, I think the building you want is to the left about 1.5 miles.

What is that icon third from the left in your dock?

Parallels, I figured the Ubuntu logo on the dock would be a give away.

SMART Reporter says your HDD is on the way out C.A.T.S.

Or is that not SMART Reporter?

But yes, this is cool, just like Google to put in easter eggs. Quite like all the crazy languages on Google search.

...or not. I can't get it to do anything-just shows pretty stars. I'll keep playing.

Oop! Got it! You seem to have to have a specific spot on the Earth identified and be near it for the simulator to work. Cool!

So, C.A.T.S., are you crashing into all these buildings?

You can't actually crash into the buildings, you go thru them and hit the ground on the other side.

Seems to top out at a little over 60,000 ft. so it looks like a space flight is out. I balanced it out and left for over an hour and it was doing well, but I don't know where I am. If they keep working on this, a little screen with a God's eye view would be really cool. And an auto pilot. I'm going to leave it all night and see what happens. I don't see any indication of fuel.

64,000 FT to be exact. Its a very slim sim, as somebody on Digg pointed out. Its "officially" a easter egg so it won't have all of the features like Flight Simulator. I sure hope Google expands on this, it could compete well with FS.

That feature seems to crash my copy of Google Earth. It just quits unexpectedly.

The 'fn' key + arrow keys.

Also, yes, be wary, the Macbook gets pretty warm playing in this.

That thing is hard to fly. I stated with the jet, but the prop plane seems to be more my skill level. Fun though.

You can use switch between the mouse and keyboard for stick control by just clicking the mouse. I found it easier to fly with the mouse. I tried a joystick at home and it worked well.
