I never visit YouTube, apart from clicking on links from forums (mostly this one), so I didn’t know that. I guess that explains (partly) how so many people come to comment that quickly. Still, some quick math tells me that video’s received an average of one comment every six seconds or so since appearing online. That’s frickin’ scary, that is!

as for the dancing--not a big fan of singers who dance--but she didn't do anything that special.

and i don't care for her music but having only heard/saw the song once, i still can recall the gimmie gimmie...kinda catchy

Yes, it's definitely a he. Goes by the name Chris Crocker. If you watch a few of his videos, he's an absolute nutjob. He goes off on strange tangents all the time.

My personal belief is that he's a character. A lot of crap on YouTube is faked these days, and I'm beginning to have suspicions about him.

My Take:

She's not fat. If you want to see what a fat indivdual looks like, venture over to your local McDonalds around lunch time.

Out of shape, maybe. Could she be in better shape, the answer is yes she could, but that holds for almost anyone. As a performer though one would think she'd want to look a littler better form the cameras.

Conclusion: Regardless of what she might have looked like in the past, her current self is, as someone else put it, N O T pop star material. In all seriousness, if she truly has any musical talent, and I can stress the word musical enough, She could get along just fine without the whole dance hocous pocous.

Wouldn't go quite that far was the comparison. I saw a video of a young Britney wailing out the tunes. In Key.

She has a natural ability, she just chooses to party over practice.

You know, like lots of kids did in College.

It's really unfortunate that I didn't have all the facts on Britney's child bearing before I made the joke. Thank god you're here.

'Deserving' to become a celebrity takes (in my book) more character and uniqueness than merely being able to sing in key. Lots of people can sing in key. Becoming renowned for it requires something else.

Sure, she's not technically off-key. But her voice is utterly uninteresting, and so is everything else about her perceived persona, so in my book, she doesn't qualify as having 'talent'.

I agree with you. She does nothing for me. But obviously she did for a lot of other people.

Candy Pop music has it's place. Just not in my collection.

Having said that, not everyone has such a complex musical ear. And to them it's just ear candy.

To be fair, The Lard's first album was an extremely well-crafted product. But it wasn't down to any talent on her part - it's because she had an excellent production/writing team.

Oh, and she couldn't dance back then either. Take a look at some of the early vids such as "Born To Make You Happy" and if you've observant you'll notice some really awkward "clumsy, uncoordinated, fat-girl" moves (check 1:12 here, for example). The Lard simply has no rhythm at all. None. Must have taken hundreds of takes to get those videos into shape.

Trust me, I'm a professional.

Oh, and she couldn't dance back then either.
In case that was referring to my initial post, note that I didn’t say talented, merely energetic. She wasn’t exactly a wonderful dancer before, but at least she made attempts at making up for it by hopping and jumping around a lot, which she didn’t even try to this time.

I tell you I didn't want to watch the video from the screencap, and after I passed it on HN last night, I really despise it. Anyone who can endure watching this tripe has earned an odd respect from me.

It wasn't really a burn on Kevin. Hey, I am guilty of the same thing. I find it easier to address certain points of a person's post and removes the confusion as to what point I am addressing.

Consider it a poke at my on posting style as well as Kevin's.
