From My Way News...

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Kanye West says he'll never return to MTV.

The 29-year-old rapper, who was shut out at the Video Music Awards on Sunday night, threw a tantrum in front of media and crew backstage as the MTV show was ending.

West, waiting for an elevator in a crowded hallway, began yelling about losing all five categories for which he was nominated, including male artist of the year.

"That's two years in a row, man ... give a black man a chance," said West, stomping around his entourage and directing his comments at a reporter. "I'm trying hard man, I have the ... No. 1 record, man."
Coming from a man living in a $7,200,000 Beverly Hills home with six Grammys.

I'm sick of seeing Kanye West throwing tantrums any time a group doesn't give him every award he's eligible for despite his "brilliance." And then claims it's because he's black???

I have no idea why people consider rappers to be bad influences.

I'm suspecting we may see an influx of VMA related news today.

BTW, this all because of George Bush not caring about black people.

He's like a child when he doesn't get his way. It's really sad, like you said that he has won numerous Grammys and yet clamours for this elusive MTV award.
Maybe he just wants to be able to back up his ego by winning as many awards, from as many, shows as possible.

Did you ever see the movie Being There? I'm a firm believer that sometimes truly unintelligent people can still find amazing success.

No, but a good friend of mine knows Kanye and has worked with him on a couple projects.

But yes, I also believe that morons can find success.

I think he needs to just accept that some people think is good, not great.
I'm embarrassed for him.

I think this dude must have forgotten to read the chapter on how not turning up to awards thingies is far cooler than throwing a tantrum whilst actually at one.

Ok.. I've been thinking about this.. Its an f'ing VMA! Why bitch and whine about a "moon man" when there is so much more whether it be awards like a Grammy or Billboard award.. something that has a little more credibility. Don't get me wrong, MTV is a huge network an def. has credibility, but when you compare it to the Grammys its like comparing the Teen Choice awards to the Oscars. I feel like he just needs to calm is dumb greedy piece of **** ass down.

How about Justin Timberlake?

And then when accepting the award for the Quadruple Threat Award, Justin reiterated, “I want to challenge MTV to play more videos.
Honestly, I like music by Kanye West.

Oh lordy...Kanye's at it again.

The guy is a complete d0uchebag, and I don't say that I only because I despise rap music and the "culture" it promotes. I just really fricking hate Kanye West.

My absolute favorite Kanye quote, however, trumps all the ones about how he deserves to win every award and how he's the greatest artist since John Lennon:
With or without any accolades, whatever it is, the fact that people listen to this music and it's connected with people...you can't tell me anything after that because there's so many places and establishments where people are out of touch.
'Cause I totally believe that. Kanye doesn't REALLY care about getting 23960820394 music awards, he just cares about "touching the people".
For all the trash I talk, I sure own a lot of Macs...

Yes! When I was in HS one of my teachers said the exact same thing. He also wrote in my yearbook "Tommy, I'm going to miss you. But if I hear that you haven't gone into acting in a few years I'm going to find you and break your legs!"

His public persona is such that I personally can't separate "I'm a downtrodden black man who's oppressed by The Man" from his music. I just can't listen to him at all.

His mother is a doctor, his father a photojournalist (and former black panther...which may explain some things), and he went to private schools growing up. Yeah... he was oppressed.

Kanye speaks again...

Kanye West blames MTV for Britney Spears' less than stellar performance at the Video Music Awards. "Man, they were just trying to get ratings, and they knew she wasn't ready and they exploited her," the 29-year-old rapper said Tuesday on Sirius Satellite Radio's "The Morning Mash Up."

The network made a "bad move" by having the troubled pop star open Sunday's event in Las Vegas, said West, who feels he should have kicked off the show with "Stronger," the first single from his new album, "Graduation."
"They exploited her, they played me and I really don't mess with MTV," he said.

...

West said he wanted to perform "Stronger" on the show's main stage - where R&B hotshot Chris Brown wowed the crowd with Michael Jackson-esque dance moves - but complied when he was asked to host a suite party.

West said it was a blow to the ego when Justin Timberlake, who also hosted a suite party, ended up "on the big stage" to give the closing performance with Timbaland and Nelly Furtado.

"Those are the big things, and you know what I do man, I really made the song 'Stronger,' you know, for stadiums," he said.
So he wanted to push his single at the VMAs, and took it as a slap in the face that he didn't get to? I mean, he really made the song, you know, for stadiums...so HOW DARE THEY not allow him to open up the show with it?!?!?!

This guys a spoiled jerk.

I'm actually not a fan of his rap style. Not saying its bad, just saying I'm not into it.

And I couldn't care less about his antics at the biggest waste of air time on television that is commonly referred to as the VMAs. That show is a farce and he probably knows it. And he probably realized that a washed up Brittany would get much more press time for her "performance" than he would. In fact, without his whining, he wouldn't even have gotten a blurb.

Its all business. He knows it. He plays the game. Whatever.

But I did laugh my ass off when he blurted out "George Bush hates black people!". Actually, I mostly laughed at Mike Meyers' facial expression immediately following that outburst. That is some footage that will go down in history.

No doubt. Marketing is a big part of his job.

And look - now he's even got a good dozen people who usually wouldn't give a flying **** about him or his music involved in perpetuating a publicity stunt on a fairly high-profile internet discussion board.

He's obviously quite excellent at what he does.
