Well, I am a some what a new member here.
I have had an account for some time, but only really made one so I could read over the boards easier (knowing what I have/have not read) and also to search if I needed help with problems. Though at the time my only interests was to find information on the iPhone and also about iPod/iTunes issues if I had any. While spending more and more time here I am really getting tempted to get my first Apple computer (probably a Macbook). So enough about what I may do, I have enjoyed reading the forums and the MacNN Lounge here and thought I would introduce myself a bit and hope to learn more about you guys.

So how are all of you?
Anything unusually I should be made aware of or not go near?

Oh boy, where to start.

For starters, keep clear of our forum troll.

I can't give you his name, but it rhymes with babe, just w/o the leading b.

Welcome.

I think these are a fine bunch of guys and gals here and unless you do something to tick them off you will be just fine. The mods are even tempered, long suffering and knowledgeable. The topics for discussion are varied and, as I'm sure you've already seen, sometimes quite lively. When you venture around the internet you'll find many different sites that may welcome your attendance but few that compel you to interact.

That's what's brought you here just as it is what brings all of us here.

I'm sure you'll have a grand time and will add as much to the mix as you derive pleasure and enlightenment from it.

If I or anyone here can be of assistance to you, please feel free to ask.

Once again,

Welcome!

I guess I can be added, well technically I use an iPhone daily. Does that count?
Though I really want to get a Macbook to "test" out OS X for a first time before spending a lot on a MBP or something else.

Also, thanks for the warm welcome.

You know I always admired Spliffdaddy for being a member here despite his not using a Mac!

I thought it was naughty and somehow defiant.

Is this the brand you prefer?

I was a member here for over a year before I bought a Mac, I think (depending on when exactly I registered, can’t remember). But that was mostly ’cause I didn’t have the money to buy one before

Uh, yes? Why wouldn’t they? They’re businesses as much as any other—and one could argue their need for a strong profile is even stronger, since theirs is a profile that has to form passively in the back of people’s minds, so that one day, when the need suddenly arises, they think of this particular logo/profile/company...

Wait. What?
I'm supposed to read more than the first three lines of the first post now? When did this rule come in? And why didn't I get the memo? And why did I just try to type "memo" as "momeo"? Why?

No. Actually sek and I have attained rapprochement. At least I hope we have.

Aside: hex sek, reminds me of Hacky Sack.

That reminds me of this song.

You do something to me,
something that simply mystifies me.
Tell me, why should it be
you have the power to hypnotize me?
Let me live 'neath your spell,
Do do that voodoo
that you do so well.
For you do something to me
that nobody else could do!
You do something to me (Cole Porter) - Lyrics

Since some of you got onto the subject of Spliffdaddy, I'd like to point out that I haven't used a Mac as my primary computer in oh.... four or five years. There is a mac in the house though, It just isn't mine. I like the forum, but I mostly stick to the lounge these days.

Dude, don't worry about it. You will not get banned w/o a fair warning (called "infraction").

Just make sure to read the Lounge forum sticky, it has all the important guidelines in it.

If things are still not clear, just sent a personal message (PM) to one of the mods and ask.

Based on the evidence below I expect no words need to be spoken re: what/who to avoid.

Stop hijacking the OP's thread!

theDreamer, notice how he goes around and hijacks, derails and generally insinuates himself into other people's threads so it's always about the thread starter and him?

Instead of a turtle maybe his name should be, "remora."

Remoras or suckerfish are elongate brown fish in order Perciformes and family Echeneidae.[1][2] They grow up to 30-90 cm long (1-3 feet), and their distinctive first dorsal fin takes the form of a modified oval sucker-like organ with slat-like structures that open and close to create suction and take a firm hold against the skin of larger marine animals. [...]The host they attach to for transport gains nothing from the relationship...

Turtle...does your sig change all the time? It seemed to have changed twice since I have logged on today?
Actually, I am use to having threads being hijacked so....no big deal to me. Many times I will take my own thread and run it off the roads if it needs to be, sometimes it is better.

I see you put turtle to sleep, past his bedtime?

Doofy, I like the sig you have. iIt has character. A bunch of different cleavages would be distracting.

Dreamer, as you've no doubt seen, we're quite a bunch. Being warned about one member or another is only a temporary thing-next week it'll be some other user that's being considered the current pariah. Don't sweat it, just pay a bit of attention to what you read and who it's from.

Welcome back!
