The guy has a serious, serious problem. His latest wheeze can be seen on Joystiq.

He's utterly, utterly fixated on Take Two; he's acting like a psycho-ex, and goes out of his way to cause them as much misery and trouble as possible. What's next? Beating a kitten to death with a hammer, then mailing the corpse to Take Two's HQ with a note saying, "I played GTA, and it made me do this"?

Forget GTA - the game that we really need to be worrying about is chess.

ITN - 'Chess board killer' trial begins

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

Ha...
Pichushkin was finally caught when the police found his name and phone number on a piece of paper in the apartment of his last victim, a woman who worked with Pichushkin in a food store.

She had apparently become suspicious of Pichushkin and had left behind a note so police would be able to track him down.

Yeah, tell me about it--I think they were mostly written by fourteen-year-olds. Or, more precisely, I hope they were written by fourteen-year-olds.

On the subject of Thompson, though, I really don't think he's displaying normal, healthy behaviour, especially for someone allegedly so educated and intelligent. He's perfectly entitled to take issue with Take Two over the games they release, but it's the fact that he does it constantly that is worrying. If I was his wife, I'd be getting him straight down to a psychiatrist for looking at. He's displaying classic monomania, and that is definitely not good.

He is so incredibly clueless it is baffling. He is like a strung out celebrity constantly begging for media attention.

It reminds me of the shooting at Virginia Tech.

They tried so hard to pin it on video games. It was pathetic.

The really funny thing is that in the videos he sent in, he was constantly talking about Jesus, yet no one tried to pin it on that.

He could have talked about religion for 45 minutes and closed with one comment on Frogger and they would have tried to pin it on video games.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Sadly, he gets huge amounts of coverage for his various antics, even from the gaming 'blogosphere'. They don't seem to realise that by covering him so exhaustively, they're actually playing into his hands. He wants to be ridiculed—preferably in a really immature and stupid way (as he was by the various commenters in the above Joystiq post)—so that he can then brand all gamers as immature, hyperviolent psychopaths. It's a catch-22: he won't stop being an ass until he stops getting coverage; he won't stop getting coverage until he stops being an ass. The worst thing that could happen to him is if everyone just ignored him completely.

Unfortunately, he makes himself such an easy target that the gaming press can't help but ridicule him, and thus the cycle continues.

I think the most damning act on Thompson's part came with the fiasco that was "A Modest Videogame Proposal". I think he definitively proved there and then that, despite his protestations of moral superiority, he has absolutely no moral calibre or any shred of decency in him.

I also noted that. I find it highly interesting that if they find journal after journal full of biblically-inspired apocalyptic writings, and one Game and Watch in a killer's house, it's obviously the videogame that inspired him to do it. The media refuse to entertain the possibility that the killer could be mentally-unstable to begin with; playing Tetris obviously was what inspired the rampage. It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

I think there is something wrong with that post. Unless you are calling yourself an idiot I suppose.
