I know some of you must be into home automation and control.

I have a cabin that I need to monitor the temperature of, but there's no computer on site. I don't want to monitor it for an alarm condition (like freezing), I just want to be able to use the internet to check on the temperature of this cabin. Anyone know of a solution that would work?

What other home automation / monitoring devices do you use?

Does the cabin have internet access ? Broadband or dial-up ?

If not, I would recommend buying a loooooong cable...

get a web cam and point it at a thermometer. Problem solved.

IF there is broadband access. Might be a little cumbersome with dialup, and less reliable.
