I was just thinking the other day that, despite now having three Macs (as detailed in my signature), I've given Apple a grand total of £144: I've bought a copy of Tiger, and a copy of iLife '08, and that's it. Everything else has been second-hand, and thus Apple hasn't actually made any money from me when I bought them.
So... question of the day: how much money have you poured into Apple's coffers?

Seeing as how I've sold several thousand Macs since the mid 90s, I'd say several million dollars.

Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

Over $10k In roughly a little over a years time. This includes machines for family members but my Mac Pro was the biggest investment. 4 computers (my desktop, MBP for my sister, iMac for my mother, and my MB), 1 iPod, 1 iPhone, Airport Extreme, etc. My entire life I have never been an Apple fan but the simplicity and consistent reliability has me sold beyond belief. (Especially for family members.)

The only product I have ever purchased from Apple is my 60GB iPod Photo. My 20GB HP iPod was obtained through freeipöds, as was the 1GB 1G Shuffle I exchanged for store credit to get the Photo. That was back when the 60GB was, IIRC, $400. I got $140(?) credit for the 1GB Shuffle, plus a student discount, so I think I paid $250 or something. I don't remember; it's been like, five years since I got it.
I have an orange 2G Shuffle I was given for Valentine's day that was purchased from Apple, so that's indirectly another $80.
I bought my iBook on eBay. 99% of the upgrades to it are from components purchased on eBay; the rest were bought through here (aside from the Airport card, which by a pure act of God I managed to get for free).
So... all told, Apple's gotten less than $350 from me.

Performa 6400 (although that one wasn't my money)

Macbook
OS 9
OS X 10.2, OS X 10.4
iLife 06
Soundsticks
iPod 4G 40GB
iPod nano 2GB

A Mighty Mouse but I took it back so it probably doesn't count.
Probably some other stuff that I can't think of now. I had the Performa in '96 so this stuff is over 11 years.

I have made apple exactly $0 to this day, now that I think about it. Everything I have from Apple is second hand. I have never actually dealt with the company . That will change with Leopard, though.
On the other hand, Apple has made ME $500, from various profit from selling my old Macs.

Ditto. I think I've spent about $5,000 since I bought my first iMac in 2000.

Considering a worked as a sales manager and then owned my own dealer in the nineties selling into the printing industry, I've made Apple piles of money. And Apple has returned the favor as well. Although Apple became a competitor of mine in '98, right about then the stock became a good thing to own and trade. This year I've spent about $4,000 on Apple branded products. I've been using Macs since '87.

- MacBook: $1049
- Mighty Mouse: $49
- Apple Keyboard x2: $98
- iWork '08: $79
