does anyone else have a love of throwback uniforms like I do? This has been a great beginning to the season, what with my Steelers wearing their throwbacks last week:
and the Eagles wearing their sweet throwbacks this week:

I didn't get the Eagles game on TV today so I was kind of mad I missed them in action but from the highlights I saw, they looked sick
then to my surprise, the Redskins game comes on and they are wearing some nice looking throwbacks too:
and the Jets are gonna be wearing some throwbacks later in the year from when they were originally the New York Titans:
say what you want about ugliness of some throwbacks but I shall hear none of it. any throwbacks/old skool jerseys are great, especially when Pitt wears their throwbacks from their golden era:
I also get giddy when the Bills wear their throwbacks. They wore them last year but I'm not sure they are gonna wear them again this year:

I'm a sucker for the throwbacks too. I wish that at least one week during the season, every team would don a throwback jersey. I just don't know what a team like Carolina would do.
My Cowboys' throwback isn't the best, but still cool.

I had to look up what the hell a throwback uniform is, ’cause being a luddite Yurpean, I couldn’t see anything about those uniforms up there that made them anything but just ‘uniforms’.
Now that Wikipedia has informed me what makes them ‘throwback’ as well, I can honestly say that I still don’t see the difference. A uniform is a uniform is a uniform.
But I do love uniforms (as long as I don’t have to wear them), so I guess I’ll agree with abbaZabba’s sentiments, anyway.

A lot of it is nostalgia.
Kind of like when football kits didn't have advertisements plastered all over the front of them.
vs.

oh and forgot about the Boston Patriots:
and every since I was a little kid I always had an affinity for old skool Houston Astros stuff:
but nothing tickles me better than looking at old skool Pirates gear:

I would kill someone for a hat like that

I likt the old Unis myself, although all I can think of when the Bills wear their throwbacks is O.J. knifing through the backfield.
But in 1999, Major League Baseball took it a step further, and made a special set of jerseys that were "throw-forward" jerseys, meant to be futuristic. The Mets got the special pleasure of wearing the ugliest unis, ever.
Were the Philly uniforms today really throwbacks, though? I was watching the games with my dad, and he could not remember any Eagles team that wasn't primarily green, like the Jets.
By the way, there's a guy who writes for ESPN about uniforms, and blogs about them here.

yes I love that blog. that's where I got most of the pictures I posted.
and yeah, the Eagles were once silver and yellow, in 1934.

just too bad that the throwbacks they wore today were not longsleeved

Obviously, in the future we all wear the same clothes. You know, those tight silver suits. I suppose all teams would look the same then, just a different solid color.
