Yeah you should definitely get taft hartleyed (get into the union) for throwing down that much cash, even if it is for a good cause.

I wonder if there is a clause in the kid's contract that will stipulate that his scene cannot be cut out the movie.
I agree though, for $47,000 the kid should at least get a tiny speaking part.
