Anyone else think this looks as cool as I do?
Trailer
I've become kind of a comic-book movie junkie so maybe I'm biased.

Well, Stark comes across as an asshole, so they've successfully captured the essence of the character.

He's one of the biggest jerks in the Marvel Universe, looks like they did a great job.

Really? I thought the problem with Fantastic 4 was that it was completely braindead and failed in every way possible (aside from having Jessica Alba in her underwear, which is acceptable).

I agree there was no plot, it was total about them being mutated and then trying to undo it. Nothing else.

Yea, I usually hate comic book movies that cast a big star as the lead (Keaton as Batman, Afflack as Daredevil, etc) but I guess Downey might just pull off that role. He's still a pretty small guy, though. I always thought of Tony Stark as kinda bigger, physically.

Nope. Sorry. Never bought it. Too slight & kinda prissy. And that low, gravelly voice just seemed so phony. There's a reason he was totally upstaged by Joker/Nicholson. Didn't like Kilmer or Clooney either. Liked Bale alot, though. (Actually, I always sorta wanted to see Bruce Campbell be The Batman. Big, lantern-jawed guy...kinda dark & mysterious. I dunno, maybe it's just me.)

Ha! Bruce is the man. He`s a great actor, and I wish he was in more `bigger` budgeted movies. He would make one interesting batman, thats for sure.
(Have you seen his Old Spice commericials? They`re deadly!)

Bruce Campbell is a regular in the TV show Burn Notice.
Michael Keaton is my favorite Batman, but Bale does an excellent job.

I'm impressed that they licensed the Black Sabbath music for the film-at least for the trailer. If they keep it in the film, it'll make it even cooler. That's going to be hard to do with as cool as it already looks.

Yeah and the music really fit in well with the movie. Esp the middle interlude part of the drums they played in the "fast scenes"

Stupid question perhaps but when that song was originally written were they talking about the comic book hero by the same name or something totally different that now happens to fit?

""Iron Man" is a song by the rock band Black Sabbath. It was later retconned into the source of Iron Man's name, as it was a young Tony Stark's favorite song. The Sabbath song is used in a trailer for the 2008 movie.[11]"

I think they were health nuts and were talking about the triathlon.

Looking pretty good so far. I hate having to wait until May though, but I'm impatient like that.
Bruce Campbell would have made a better Ghost Rider and possibly the Joker, but I don't really see him as Batman.

Iron Man - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The keyword here is "retconned" because the Iron Man(the Marvel character) pre-dates Iron Man(the song). The Iron Man character was introduced in 1963. Iron Man, the song, was released in 1970.
What I found kinda cool is that the movie Iron Man uses the repulsors in his gauntlets to steer while in flight. I don't ever remember him doing that in comic and always wondered how could he steer with jets only in his boots.

Yeah, when I saw the preview I thought of it more as a joke, because one I knew it was not a gang sign, and two he told him to do it anyway in a non-carrying (funny) voice.

When I heard its Robert downey Jr., I can't help but think that its a sink or swim idea. In theory, he's so perfect for it: smart arrogant businessman with a pained warrior angle thats covered with a jaded veneer. Its like Robert- we kind of hate him but he's just fascinating to see on cam.
Especially with the way Marvel is treating Iron Man and Stark's role in the current universe, this is a different hero without that heartachey-Im-a pained hero-in-tights shots like the other movies. Its worth taking a peek.

Ironman was always my favorite comic book. Always. I've been pumped that this was coming out for a while, and I'm so glad that freaking Timberlake isn't in it.

Well, it'll be tough to disappoint me. I've liked pretty much all of the comic movies that have come out lately. Yes, even Hulk and Fantastic Four… despite all of the valid criticisms. I don't like to over-analyze movies. All that matters is if I enjoyed myself watching them.
Ironman looks like it could be a lot of fun.
