One thing that sticks out immediately is its low resolution, 720p sets are 1366 x 768, 1080p sets are 1920 x 1200..

That resolution is NOT HD. It never will be.

480p and 576p are considered EDTV.

1024x768 is fine for a 42" TV, unless you're going to be sitting ~6' away from it or closer. It has 85% of the resolution of 720p.

That Insignia brand is a crappy brand, but the image quality might be OK enough for you. However, Insignia doesn't have the greatest reliability record. Up to you to decide. It could be worth getting an extended warranty in this case though.

P.S. Aren't you the guy who was going to extend your mortgage just to buy a Mac? Or am I mistaken?

*meh* WTF do I know?

Though I will say that 720p looks better to me than 1080i.

A plasma TV is not something you will want to "buy cheap".

You will be sorry.

Must be nice to have enough extra money to burn to be shopping for a flat screen tv, a new Mac, and an entry level luxury car all at once.

Agreed. While you can find the resolution you want, cheap plasmas will have poor grey scales, poor color reproduction, 6-bit internal processing, and many other shortcomings. Cable will look OK. DVD may be more or less passable, but any high-def content might look bad (poor color gradients, etc).

Buy from someplace with a good return policy.
