First of all, I can't believe USC lost today. Not that I'm not overjoyed by it, but I didn't see it coming this week. I hate USC, I hate the Pac 10, and believe the SEC is head and shoulders above the rest of college football.
Secondly, as a rabid LSU fan, my heart is currently in my throat. If LSU can just hold Florida during this last minute, they can pretty much coast to the SEC Championship (probably).
My wife is complaining that I hurt her hand with how hard I just gave her a high-five. She keeps walking around the room saying, "It stings, it stings!"

"Come Join The Band"
Come join the band
And give a cheer for Stanford red
Throughout the land
Our banner waving overhead
Stanford for you
Each loyal comrade brave and true
With might and main sings this refrain
"Forever and forever Stanford red."
After the game
When Stanford red has won the day
Praising her name
Down to the field we'll force our way
And on the green
Each man who joins the serpentine
With might and main sings this refrain
"Forever and forever Stanford red."
"All Right Now"
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-whoa
There she stood in the street
Smilin' from her head to her feet;
I said, "Hey, what is this?
Now maybe, baby,
Maybe she's in need of a kiss."
I said, "Hey, what's your name?
Maybe we can see things the same.
"Now don't you wait, or hesitate.
Let's move before they raise the parking rate."
All right now, baby, it's a-all right now.
All right now, baby, it's a-all right now.
(Let me tell you now)
I took her home to my place,
Watchin' every move on her face;
She said, "Look, what's your game?
Are you tryin' to put me to shame?"
I said "Slow, don't go so fast, don't you think that love can last?"
She said, "Love, Lord above,
Now you're tryin' to trick me in love."
All right now, baby, it's a-all right now.
All right now, baby, it's a-all right now.

TN and LSU won, Fla and USC lost, this makes for a great Saturday.
However, Notre Dame finally won one, which kinda makes me sad.

LSU always pulls out a victory when I especially want them to lose. like when they beat kentucky(?) on the last play on a hail mary a few years ago. I hate LSU.
as for strongest conference I'm gonna go with the Big Ten as the best. the only truly bad teams are northwestern and minnesota and possibly iowa. that least 8 other teams that are a notch above decent.

You could put up a better argument for the Pac 10 than you could for the Big Ten.
The SEC has 5 teams in the top 12, and should have more in the top 25. Any team in the SEC (sans Vanderbilt) could surprise you any given Saturday. I think last year's rout in the national championship game showed the difference between the SEC and Big Ten. Speed kills, and the SEC has it in droves.
The only problem with the SEC is that for a team to make it to the national championship, you almost have to go unbeaten. To go unbeaten in the SEC is a MASSIVE accomplishment in itself, making it unlikely for SEC teams to finish in the top 2.

that is such a lame argument and I am incredibly tired of people repeating it every single year. honestly, florida was not better than ohio state last year. at worst they were equals. the national championship was just one of those odd games that happens. OSU dropped the ball. as for speed- that's retarded and a broad generalization. SEC players are inherently faster than any others.

PAC-10 love here.
However, I'm happy to see the USC team slip to #2 last week and #10 right now.

Not worried.
It was the first loss for the Badgers and we see Ohio in a month.
Between now and then Penn State, IU, and NIU aren't realistic threats.

I'm sorry but the SEC rules. I live in GA but consider LA my home, may move to FL soon. Regardless, every game is a heartstopper.

They are currently Iowa State's only win for the season. I'd call that bad.

That's very possible, and even if they down Florida they have to take on Georgia and Tennessee in back-to-back games in November, which is a tough task no matter who you are. Personally, I don't think they have enough depth to remain healthy through the last 5 games. All that aside, they've played a hell of a season so far and have much to be proud of. Even if they finish 10-2 it'll be their best in the modern era.

The team no one seems to talk about in the SEC East is Tennessee. They only have one loss and have already played Florida. UK and SC have only one loss but still have to play Florida.

Personally, I'd like to see Tennessee do well, but I can't see them sweeping Alabama, S. Carolina, Arkansas, and Kentucky. They'll stumble at least once, probably to S. Carolina or Kentucky, and Bama is always tough.

Didnt Tennessee lose to Florida and Cal?
Ohio State has a cake schedule overall, and dont deserve to be national champions.

The Cal loss doesn't really affect their conference record, in SEC play they're 2-1 and tied for first in the East.
IMO, South Florida doesn't deserve to play for the title either, even if they go 12-0. Their schedule is crap too.

They beat Auburn and West Virginia. They still have Rutgers, Cincy and Louisville on the schedule. It's not really tough, but it's not 'crap'. To this point in the season, they're the only undefeated team with two quality wins (Auburn and WVU). The computer rankings appear to acknowledge this (and that USC hasn't done jack squat beyond being having the name USC).
I don't think that USF will be in the top of the rankings at the end, even if they win out. Once some of the bigger schools play their bigger games and conference championships, they will jump over USF, despite the W-L record. I live near USF and am having fun with their current position and the local hype, but I have no doubts about the fact that LSU would beat them.

IMO, if USF had to play an SEC schedule, I have no doubt they'd be 8-4 or 9-3 at the end of the season. I'm just not impressed with the Big East, and it still has quite a lot of work ahead to improve it's quality of play compared to the SEC, Pac 10, or even the Big 10.
When it's all said and done, I believe we'll see LSU and Oklahoma playing in the title game, and what a game it will be.

let me also point out that the computer part of the BCS equation has USF ranked #1 overall and OSU tied for #5. the fact that the two human polls (the other two-thirds of the BCS equation) have Ohio State ranked #1 puts them ahead.

if Oklahoma wants to play for the title then they should have gone undefeated, simple as that
if you want to pick ONE team that is ranked in the top ten to not be in it for lack of schedule strength you can pick Oklahoma

I wouldn't call Rutgers and Cincy quality wins, neither is nearly as good as they were last year, and they all come from a rather weak conference. IMO, I don't think USF is much better than Hawaii or Kansas.

The computer polls are dynamic based on current strength of schedule, no future games are taken into consideration. By the end of the season, even if they (USF) go undefeated, the computers will kill them.

And we all get punished by this ridiculous lottery for a champion. Some day, after playoffs have been held for years, people will look back at the BCS and say "what the hell was that crap?".

Last year OhioSt played the #2 team twice, #13, #24, and of course #1 Florida... very Nice schedule... This year they scheduled Washington on the road... The mighty Huskies (2-4), also Akron, Youngstown State, Kent State... Nice non conference schedule. USC at least went to Nebraska. Cal hosted Tennessee.
Ohio State has a soft schedule. They arent the only ones though. But since when is Illinois a good team? Wisconsin? Both teams are off the top 25, and for good reason.

Exactly. Big Ten standings.
I don't care how you try to twist it; Wisconsin, Illinois, and Penn State is NOT a grueling schedule. None of those teams except Michigan (at #25) are in the Top 25 in the BCS rankings.

And for the record, my Tigers deserved to lose to Kentucky. Yes, they were weakened from a draining game last weekend, and they're missing their best receiver, but Kentucky is a GOOD team. I give them a lot of respect.

Is that like the "fact" that Stanford couldn't beat USC or the "fact" that Michigan would never lose to Appalachian State?
(Just about) anybody can win on any given Saturday. That's why we need a... well, you know.
BTW, all arguments about strength of schedule are silly when you only actually schedule 1/3 of the teams you play. For the most part, SOS is related to your conference. Obviously, that penalizes really good teams whose conference opponents are having down years.

When people make statements like the one I made, it is assumed that they're saying 8 or 9 times out of 10. Certainly, there are the exception games, but while Stanford beat USC, play that game 9 more times and USC will win the majority of them.

You're probably right, but my point is that the other 9 out of 10 times don't really matter. Isn't seeing who can rise to the occasion when the pressure is on one of the reasons we watch?

The AD, Steve Pedersen at NU has been fired and the legendary Tom Osbourne is back in as interim AD. Bill Callahan's job may be on the line by the end of the year and I've got mixed feelings.
Overall, I gotta tell ya it's a good day in Nebraska baby. It'll be a long way back into the top 10, but this is a good start.

Boooo.... lame ending to USF-Rutgers game. USF couldn't move the ball at all, no thanks to their quarterback who didn't know how to dump the ball instead of taking a sack... or spiking the ball on 2nd and 22... WTF?!?!
