This is a bit belated, but I am now, as the title of this thread suggests, an uncle! Sort of! My fiancé's sister had a baby girl two weeks ago tomorrow. Happily I was there (in Illinois) with my iPhone to get pictures the same day (a couple hours later though). So here's Maura Louise Kelly, my new almost-niece, all 9 lbs. 11 oz. of her:
And here's a bunch more pictures: Maura Louise (photoset) | Zooomr Photo Sharing

5 lb is tiny. I weighed in at about 10 lb 10 oz when I was born (in 1982). It’s not just nowadays.
But congrats on the uncleage anyways, nonhuman

The women in her family are all fairly small, I don't think any of them are over 5'5". But they're also all very large babies, I think the smallest of them was still over 9 lbs.
But yeah, Maura's huge. She looks like a 3 month old and was too big for most of the clothes her mother got as gifts.

I was 6 pounds, 8 ounces. I'm tall and skinny today. I think my brother was 7.5 pounds. Anything over 8 pounds is horribly obese, I think. Get that little tubbo on a treadmill!
Edit: sorry, I meant to have a congratulations in there somewhere.

Congrats!
(By the way, where is that hospital? Did it have hardwood floors in the labor room? Or am I seeing it wrong?)

Babies are neat. Especially since you get to sleep at night.

It's the Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb, IL. And yes, those are hardwood floors. That's actually in their old building, they're just finishing up a brand new fancy building that they were actually in the process of moving equipment into from the old building while we were there.
