I've been using Time warner cable's EArthlink High speed Internet for years now.
I never really thought about upgrading because I like earthlink's e-mail and my service has never gone down (maybe once or twice in 4 years for a few minutes).
I was wondering, if Road Runner is a better choice. It appears faster on paper, but I don't know what the results are in real life.
Also, I heard EArthlink works better with macs, but that sounds untrue.
I would like to keep my earthlink e-mail, but I could get rid of it, if my Internet would get twice as fast.
Anyone recommend road runner?
Thanks.

Time Warner Cable Earthlink for $30 a month here. Meets my needs, I wasn't aware that there was much of a difference between the two honestly.

When I moved to NYC we had the RoadRunner 7mbit line and got about 500kps download speeds. I upgraded to the 15mbit line. Here and when I was in Florida I had the 15mbit RoadRunner service. In Florida I would get 1.2Mbs download speeds and here I'm lucky if I hit 1Mbs.
What sort of speeds are you getting with Earthlink?
I don't know if it's my computer (we'll find out when I do a clean install of 10.5 tomorrow) or the density of wifi networks, but my wifi network is slower here in NYC than it was back in Florida. Copying data to and from my wifi drive is slower here. It could also be the placement of my basestation. I should play around. Maybe move it around.

Another nyer here - Time Warner Cable Road Runner Service.
It works great when it works, when it doesn't, leave ny - their support people are clueless dolts for the most part and nothing gets resolved without a personal visit, however useless the visit may be.
Speeds vary from 350Kbps to 9Mbps, depending on the time of day.

What software do you use to determine how fast your connection is running at?
My earthlink cost 41.95 a month in NYC.
I see that Verizon is also a choice, but I think they only offer DSL right now, but it's cheaper starting at 19.99 a month. I think it's most likely slower, even though it claims to be faster than Earthlink on paper.
I got excited by FiOS, but that hasn't seem to gotten to NYC yet, or at least not my address.
