I'm not familiar with the specifics of this case, but I've seen enough bogus patents and bad patent lawsuits that I'm not wholly opposed to making a mandatory death sentence for anybody who says the words "patent infringement."

If they were so sure of their "patent infringement" then why wait until they could find "a set of lawyers that would take the case on a 'you win if we win' basis"?
From the paragraph of information this smells a lot like all the lawsuits that are aimed at companies who are wealthy.
Apparently they didn’t realize that the patent was violated until about two years ago when a lawyer reported the fact to them after seeing a presentation breaking down Google’s search engine technology.
