I am often on my iMac in the early hours.

Using wireless optical mouse, I prefer not to use mouse mat, just straight onto desk.

The mouse just glides...occasional polishing of desktop to aid this.

Just one battery installed makes it light too. Don't know why, I seem to have got into the habit of slightly lifting mouse to move it around sometimes, especially at the end of a sideways movement, probably a hangover from cabled mouse or trackball days.

However, the wooden laminated desk surface can be very cold these days.

Brainwave !!

I now use one of those small rectangular (4" x 2") clicky self heating re-useable sodium acetate hand warmer pads, ( I had a few from possible carpal tunnel syndrome a few years back, it wasn't thankfully) not only is it warm and pliable for an hour or so, it moulds itself to my wrist shape.

It is also a useful wrist rest for my lifting of mouse habit. Just the right size and amount of support and comfort.

Don't know why I didn't think of this before.

I just made myself a Mousing Glove. My mouse hand gets cold and stiff so that it hurts and it's hard to type so I took a polar fleece glove and cut slits at the bottom of the first finger joints to poke my finger tips out through (goes up over the wrist too.) The good thing about polar fleece (trademark, etc) is that it doesn't unravel when cut.

For some reason my left typing and stylusing hand doesn't get cold as often, altho I made it a glove too.

But those heat things sound good.

Of course, I also usually have a cat under my arm on that side which can provide warmth but creates other difficulties.

Tried the glove thing before, I found that after an hour, with my keep on flexing fingers to operate button & nipple, I got muscle pain in base of fingers due to slight constriction of glove, which was a cut down woolen glove.
