I'm pumped. Seriously. Although I wonder if I should wait until all four movies are released in a box set to buy...

(He still plans on buying it, though!)

I have waited very long for this. I just hope they decide to do a season or so if the movies do well. Adult Swim will likely push the DVD's as hard as they can.

Isn't it going to play on Cartoon Network some time? When is that?

I believe after about a month or so on the shelf the first movie will become a 3-episode mini-series that will run on the Adult Swim block, just like the Family Guy movie did.

Comedy Central picks up Futurama rights in 2008, in which they also get exclusive rights to the DVD movies instead of Adult Swim.

Wow, I don't see Futurama as Comedy Central material. Comedy Central wants animated series that blatantly and constantly rip on the most controversial of subjects. Futurama is the complete opposite of that except for a few rare moments. But as long as it gets exposed to viewers somewhere then it's all good.

It definitely deserves it's old throne back, but then again Fox are so damn greedy that the only reason they took Family Guy back was because it was making Adult Swim a late night ratings heavyweight. I like the way that new episodes of Family Guy get to have dirtier and funnier jokes on Adult Swim and Fox wusses out and censors their broadcasts.

I had no idea

Does cartoon network play the new-this-week episodes, or do you just wait until they roll around in syndication?

I liked it up to a point. It did remind me a lot of the Simpsons (I realize the relation)
And I kept seeing Peg Bundy in my head all the time.

You know I've watched between 100-125 shows of the Simpsons, but I've only seen one Futurama episode?

*gets ready to duck*

And yes, I'm serious. I'm guessing I should go buy a DVD set later on.

Futurama is like a Family Guy thing. It doesn't appeal to everyone. Having said that I liked Futurama better than Family Guy.

I'll most likely pick it up. The clarity can't be compared, which is what I like. Plus special features.

Family Guy was funny for a while, but I've long since had my fill of it. Futurama is the one that should have been kept on the air.

I liked Bender's Big Score - I rate in the B+ to A- range. You get top quality writing, the great animation style and voice acting. I recommend it to all fans of the series. My biggest complaint, however, is the overall tone of the movie was a little angrier and more serious than I think it should have been, but I guess that's to be expected from the first movie since the writers are venting over the cancellation of the show.

It's hard to carry a plot for ~2 hours with just the cutesy fun stuff. You need a little angry in it.

As for my analysis, I liked it, and I'll watch it again, but I get tired of the time travel stuff. It was great in Time Keeps on Slipping, because since they only moved forward it was all about jokes. In The Why of Fry, which is similar to this movie, it just gets repetetive, seeing the same lines over and over.

I also think the spam plot was a lazy device that was inappropriately shoehorned into the 30th Century, but that's a minor quibble.

I don't think me talking about spam spoils anything, if that's what you're referring to. A spoiler gives away a crucial element or ending.

Err... maybe you should start reading science fiction. ALL science fiction is a mirror of today's world. Allegories and references set against a backdrop of "the future".

Me too, it was funny. So are the spam jokes. The complaint isn't lack of funny, it's that the subject matter relates to 2007, not 3007, and knowing that draws you out of the futuramaness of it.
