Looks like Emeril is sailing off into the sunset
Emeril

Foodnetwork is ceasing all production of his show. I was wondering about this since they moved his show from 8 to 7:00pm. That also the fact that he's done just about every type recipe known to man. Still he was quite a phenomenon and helped put foodnetwork on the map.

I liked him before they put him in front of an audience. On his solo show, he wasn't/isn't all hammy and BAMmy.

"'Jelly Hat' sounds silly," I told Prince. "How about something poetic, like 'Raspberry Beret.'"

I always thought that the band on the show was a bit much

I agree, I never saw the synergy of the band and a cooking show. If memory serves me, I remember seeing some sort of biography on the food network or somewhere, and basically Emeril as a teenager wasn't sure he wanted to do. A musician or a cook so I guess in this instance he has both.

I hated him. Well, more his audience. They are like the definition of fanboi.

Why, nothing wrong with being a fanboi. They enjoyed the show he put on. Personally I enjoyed the show only too a point. I prefer seeing the cook do the actual cooking. He just mixed the ingredients together and then pulled out the pre-made dish out of the oven or fridge. He was less a chef and more of an entertainer on that show.

I never really liked the show.

I prefered Good Eats, Unwrapped, and The Jim O'Conner Show a lot more.

unwrapped is actually a really spectacular show. I'd never guess some of the history behind certain foods

I agree, Good Eats was (is?) much better. Never heard of the Jim O'Conner show. Is that on the food network?

Anthony Bourdain must be laughing pretty hard after hearing this news. As I recall he referred to Emeril as a fuzzy ewok in Kitchen Confidential.

The show Jim O'Connor* was called "The Secret Life of ...". He is a funny guy with a real charismatic nature.

* Correct spelling, I had to look it up.

Now there's one host I cannot stand! He may have been a good cook (I really don't know), but he's an ass.
