Raising a pet coyote in Wyoming (with adorable pics) - Gadling
"I think any reasonable person would be against capturing and taming wild animals, so I bristled a bit when I first came across this website, which tells the story of a woman who raises a coyote out of a one-room log cabin in Wyoming.
But you learn that she found the coyote as a pup, orphaned after both of his parents were killed. Plus, the cuuuute pictures won me over."

So this very cute, single woman who drives a truck and a Vespa, is a writer and photographer and lives alone in a one-room cabin in rural Wyoming is raising a coyote from a pup.

Anybody see a Disney movie plot here?

*edit*

Oh, and she moved there after a one day stop on her way from SF to NY. Classic.

Either Robert Redford or Clint Eastwood will direct and star in it. She'll be 20-ish and they will look 90-ish.

Oh come on - this is ideal Costner come-back material. Baseball with Coyotes... She falls in love with the local high school baseball coach after he accidentally runs the dog over in his Prius. He has a battle worming his way into her heart, what with running her dog over and stuff, and after a brief fling she's all for moving back to the smoke because she can't cope with the pain. But then the dog forgives him, she takes it as a sign and stays put. Smoochies all round.

Doofy, if you are not a writer of screen plays, you've missed your calling.

In the end, the coyote turns on her and eats her in her sleep

I was thinking about that - cat and coyote might seem all fun and games right now, but I can see kitty ending up as breakfast. Coyotes are no pets.

I always wanted to tame a Texan. Some of them are real cute, but mean and temperamental by nature. Think of all the fun we could have together, my Texan and me. Oh to dream.....

(The above comment was a joke. Please don't send Texans after me.)

I would not be surprised if what she is doing is against the law. Keeping wild animals like that is generally not allowed unless you have the approval from the state wildlife authorities.

A distant cousin once had a "dog" which was sweet as anything but would could never be trained. Finally she sent it to a dog sanctuary and they called a few weeks later saying "that wasn't a dog, it's a coyote".

As long as the coyote stays away from the ACME mail order catalog, she's safe.
