um, so.....

I think I read about this a LONG time ago and put it out of my head. I was chatting with some WoW guildies on Ventrilo about odd things that happen at DragonCon and the subject of Furries came up.

For those of you that don't know, people dress up like animals and, well, it seems to be a fetish thing. Anyone hear about this?

Yeah there have been many furry threads in here before. Just odd and strange. I wouldn't be surprised if the channel didn't have it's own "furry" club

There was a documentary about Furries done by some woman a while ago. I'll see if I can find a link to it. It was actually pretty interesting. The best part was how she tried to be totally objective and open-minded from the very beginning, but by the end she was obviously pretty disgusted with the people she was dealing with.

it can involve your particular animals, err, "attraction scent" (don't remember the exact name for it) but that depends on the people. some just dress up.

Hmmm.... had no idea about the animals - I was thinking of the dressing up - I mean it's not that far from the Hefner Bunny Girl thing, or the cat halloween costumes.

I was at a Star Trek con maybe around '87 or so and there was this one table selling fanfic. I was already leery about it, but one of them had a cover of a naked Kirk and Spock embracing each other.

There's a geek con here in the Bay Area (San Jose) called BayCon where the police showed up one year after a bunch of goths had gathered up some furries and beat the crap out of them.

Yeah, goths beating up furries. I think there's a paradox in there somewhere.
