SEE UPDATE AT BOTTOM OF POST AFTER READING INITIAL POST!

As someone who likes to get the world perspective of things, I sometimes like to read online newpapers from around the world. Tonight I was bored so I decided to pull up the New Zealand Herald (nzherald.co.nz) site to see if there was anything interesting going on down there, and I got the 'Server not found' error. Figuring they were down for maintenance, I decided to check out the Sydney Morning Herald (smh.com.au) same thing.

"Odd" I thought, so I googled New Zealand newspapers, which gave me a list of NZ news sites at onlinenewspapers.com/nz.htm. Almost all of them resulted in getting the same error (One site I was able to get through to was maorinews.com), I tried Australia newpapers, same result. "What am I in China all of a sudden, forbidden to get outside news?"

So I tried Qantas.com.au, same error again, Then when I tried Air New Zealnd's site, it came up.

Any idea what's going on?

UPDATE: After posting this I decided to check out news from Europe, and started ending up with the same results at guardian.co.uk and the independent.ie . Any N. American news site like usatoday.com and cnn.com work just fine. I also checked a few international non news sites, some are working some are not. these include both URL's with and without country abbreviations in them.

What, me worry?

I’ve had no problems from Europe, either. But you know you’re always just one breath away from Mother Oceania, right?

Okay, that was quite bad, my apologies.

That's pretty interesting.

I'd suspect it's more likely an issue with either his machine, his home network, his ISP, or his DNS servers.

Well after a good nights sleep, I tried again this morning, and everything was working fine again. I can only assume it was some kind of weird DNS issue. What kind of DNS issue, causes you to loose access to a lot, but not all, international web sites?
What, me worry?
