Well the Mitchell report is now released and a number of notable players have been named

Does this change the way you think of baseball.

Will this effect Clemen's "legacy" as best pitcher in the MLB. I mean look at Barry Bonds and the damage its done to his reputation. There is one stark difference between those two however. Bonds is not a likable person and Clemens is perhaps more personable.

While I don't know all of the facts, I'm surprised that players were named in the report based on hearsay and one persons statement's. For the most part (other then the balco HGH section) the people implicated in using steroids were done so using uncorroborated circumstantial evidence.

I have to say, Baseball is the most boring sport on the planet (equally as boring as cricket, golf, and curling).

Rumor has it that MLB has indemnified Mitchell against charges of libel and slander. Good thing, too, because I smell lawsuits (or, at the very least, a slew of grievances under the collective bargaining agreement.)

And while I think that while you are correct in your assertion that Clemens is more likable than Bonds, that doesn't say much.

One thing I'm sure this will for the rocket - be the final straw in his decision to retire. From what I saw of him last year, he really should not have played. He was just a shell of his prior self (pitching wise). Seeing the heat, questions, allegations that bonds getting he'll probably hang it up for a cushy tv job.

I found this story by Frank DeFord while waiting for my latest FPGA project to synthesize, and it's quite insightful. I might have a new Favorite Saying, to go along with my other two:

- You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you might find you get what you need.
- If money can solve your problems, then you don't have any problems.

And now:
It's indicative of how the entitled modern athletes ---- or at least those who cheat ---- think, so that even when they presume to apologize, they can't. Did you hear Andy Pettitte's statement? "If what I did was an error in judgment, I apologize."

Andy, I'm sorry, but no apology can begin with the word if.

Rickey Henderson played the game clean....I'm even more impressed with him now. Is that possible?

The question now is whether or not he's still eligible for a TV job at this point. Do people want to listen to a (possible) juicer talk about baseball? Additionally, does he even have the personality for a job like that?

Also, Nolan Ryan managed to pitch well into his 40's while still being clean at the same time, none if this "sign a contract for a gazillion dollars while taking the first three months of the season off" stuff. Now, it seems like Roger's famous "workout regimen" was really all coming out of (or perhaps shot into) his ass....
