Man buys new truck with only pocket change.
Wow, I mean, wow! I really am surprised the dealer would let someone buy a brand new truck with coins. I bet he had to bring a truck just to get all the coins to the dealer. The impressive thing is, he's bought two other cars with just change. That dealer must hate him...

Wouldn't it be more frugal to periodically deposit the coins earned in an interest-bearing account. He could have:

a) Bought the new car sooner;
b) Bought a more expensive car; or
c) Had 'seed money' left over for the next car after buying this one.

I don't get the point of any 'statement' here other than 'I don't believe in the banking system'.

That guy is smart. He was saving his money invisibly. What would you do if you had to carry a handful of coins around each day? Would you go to the bank each week and deposit some 10 dollars in coins?

How do you get 10 dollars in coins each week? I guess it was his system of saving. Plus, thieves couldn't steal it quietly or easily. He may not have had the interest, but his system worked anyway.

What my family does is save our change in a two gallon container then take it to one of those exchange machines and get cash. We normally end up with about $40 every two months. Not a ton, but just a little extra spending money. We'll normally go do something fun with it.
