A MARRIED couple have had their union annulled - after discovering they were twins.
The twins were separated at birth and not told they had any siblings. They were adopted by different families, and - amazingly - as adults they met, fell in love and married.
The High Court ruled the marriage had never been valid and annulled it.
And you though this could happen only in the Arkansas(or Alabama, or...)

I have some mixed feelings about this. Sure, they probably shouldn't have children, for obvious reasons. However, it can't completely change how they feel about each other. It could have been best just to let them stay together, they don't really know each other as siblings and they could always adopt.

Are marriage and divorce records in the public domain in Britain? If so, then I doubt the story is true. Who would want to bring that case forward? There would be no privacy and all it would take was one court officer or clerk to gossip one syllable.

From the Sky News reports I am getting the impression that we are heading towards mandatory pre-marriage DNA testing ala "Gattaca". The woman interviewed was concerned that children conceived in vitro from donated sperm and egg would meet and falling in love etc, only to find out that they are siblings.

I think thats a good idea, the last thing you need is to screw your own sister especially as we only have 30 years before we go to carousel.
