Short and sweet version.

I bought my dad a B&W G3 300 and it works like a charm, Runs Panther (so it never crashes) and gets him online so that's all he needs.

Now my Grandfather talks to me and he wants the same deal that my dad got.

Over at PowerMax.com they have one B&W G3 400, 768 MB RAM, etc.... but also three models of G4s that are actually CHEAPER than the G3.

In my older days constantly visiting LowEndMac I found that the B&W G3 got amazing reviews and is considered one of the best Macs ever made.

I dunno if it would be worth saving a hundred bucks and getting a Digital Audio G4 Dual 500 that may or may not sh!t the bed on him.

What would you do?

Here is the used Mac page at Powermax.

Thanks everyone! j/k

I finally settled on a Mac for him. i could've gotten a 1.25 Ghz G4 eMac but the shipping was unbearable so I thought to myself "What's a nice powerful used Mac that doesn't weigh much?"

Eureka! For a little cheaper than the much newer eMac my grandpa will be surfin in style with his G4 Cube 450! It has 700+ MB of RAM and won't take up much space. I'm totally psyched to get my greasy mitts on one and run it through the paces. Unfortunately it has 9.2.2 installed, but I've got Tiger now on my machine so I figure I'll slam it on the Cube too!

My only worry is the VGA connector for a monitor. From what I can find online it seems like any ordinary CRT will do, which is what I'll be getting for him, but I'm worried I may need some sort of adapter.

Anyone got a quick answer for me?
