Honorable mentions:
Crysis
StarCraft
Super Mario 64

My movie list:

And I'm sure I'm forgetting plenty, so help remind me of a few and post your favorites!

Pirates of the Caribbean (All of them)
For Pirates II, you mean "Gladiator". That soundtrack is a plain ripoff.

I like Pirates in general, and most of Zimmer's stuff, but it's a bit distracting.

Favorite soundtracks (scores for the purists):

Star Trek (Goldsmith)
The Right Stuff
Earth to the Moon
Apollo 13
Back to the Future
Superman
Clockwork Orange (Wendy/Walter Carlos)
Jurassic Park
Tron (more Wendy/Walter)
Patton (vintage Goldsmith)
1941 (more fun than Star Wars)
A Bridge Too Far
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Gladiator
Aliens
Terminator 2 (for the main theme -- still creeps me out)
Die Hards 1, 2 (or, what they're derived from: Die Hard is from same base material as Clockwork Orange, Beethoven's 9th. Sibelius was the inspiration for #2, Kamen was a genius regardless)
Batman (Elfman, not Prince)
Star Wars (until the last three)
Blade Runner (which started a trend for a while)

There was. A bootleg, and then a release from Varese a few years ago.

Kinda like the Lord of the Rings sound track. They list 20 songs, but there're really only 2. The one Enya did for the elves, and then there's the "dun dun duuuuuuuuuun dundundun. dun dun duuuuuuuuuun dundundun" with that little slow score they chop up for the hobbits, but it's really just apart of the "dun dun duuuuuuuuuun dundundun" one. One of the most annoying sound tracks. It was like listening to a broken record.

You don't find techno like that anymore. The rock part was take it or leave it, for the most part. Lemme know if you want a copy of the mp3s.

A lot of these games I wouldn't have expected to be put on this list, and a lot of these movies I've never heard of.

I would like to second the Terminator theme, Gladiator, and Indiana Jones though, and add Inside Man.

I think the greatness in the theme is it so strongly mirrors/duplicates the feel of the movie -- cold, militaristic, and industrial.

The Sims- Sure, its calming and a little refreshing at times, but it doesn't seem like it deserves the title of a soundtrack. It's like elevator music.

World of WarCraft- I have never played World of WarCraft, but from what I've heard from trailers, commercials, other people playing, etc... it sounds like the credit should go to the previous WarCraft titles.

Flipping through my iTunes library, I've found I'd like to add The Mummy and the score for Medieval II: Total War.

Also, I see no one else has listed C&C: Generals. Do I just have bad taste there?

What else would you call a collection of original music scored for a game?

True. It reminds me of the theme from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It has the 40s-50sish pseudo-reality charm.

Of course. The Official Soundtrack. Actually, I'm a bit of a fan of "Under Construction", but the rest I could go without.
All of the reviews state this soundtrack brings back memories. We're not digging back that far here, I mean, its The Sims. You can still buy it off the shelf in some places.
One reviewer said it was lounge music though, which I think better describes it than elevator music.

As for Philadelphia, well, I am Catholic, but that doesn't mean I fit the stereotype. And I'm definitely not too old. So I should give it a shot?

I don't have it handy, but there are about 5 solid ones for me. If Lounge music has lots of strings, than yes, I agree.

That really depends on your style. The main focus of the show is 4 self-centered, amoral, sometimes clueless, foul-mouthed twenty-somethings and their half-baked schemes to acquire whatever strikes their fancy that week, and how those schemes always fail.

I'll give it a shot.

Anyways, back to soundtracks.

There was a game I used to play by the name of World War III: Black Gold, where the main screen music was mostly of an a cappella girl with this haunting humming and an occasional beat or two. I can't specifically think of the beat, just the girl. Funny how things stick on you like that.

And I'm still wondering about Generals.

I'd like to correct myself. I found out that it would, but that the original version was made for the a movie of the same name. Turns out there were multiple versions; even one for Assassins Creed.

Game: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, if nothing else, for the sheer variety. Unless you played the game as much as I did, in which case you'd heard every song over and over...

Movie: Ocean's 11

Ah, the Ocean's have some nice music to them. And GTA: SA is alright, but just because the soundtrack is traditional music, I'm not that in to it. I was hesitant to put A Knights Tale on my list for the same reason, but I did anyways just because its insanely great music and fits so well with the movie.
