So, this is going to be the place to post all kinds of crap that the world really doesn't need. Services, products, opinions, you name it.
Here's my contender for today:
Can't Get Enough Oprah? Wait a Few Years
Winfrey, Discovery to Launch New Network in Her Likeness, But Without Her TV Show
By SAM SCHECHNER
January 16, 2008; Page B1
Americans love "The Oprah Winfrey Show," but are they ready for the Oprah Winfrey Network?
Ms. Winfrey and Discovery Communications announced yesterday plans to launch a new channel -- which will go by the acronym, OWN -- in the second half of 2009. Ms. Winfrey will be the creative force behind the channel, developing programming on topics familiar to her viewers, such as dealing with bullying and recovering from divorce. But, at least at first, the channel will be entering a cluttered landscape without Ms. Winfrey's biggest asset, her top-rated talk show."

Yeah, LOL, that blows.
But hey, it's common knowledge that early adopters pay a price for that.
I wouldn't be surprised though if the pressure on Apple would get so high that they offer it for free. Let's wait a couple of days...

Yeah, I'm waiting to see. No way I'm paying $20 for an update for a $400 iPod that I got a month ago.

Multi-tier management. We need some management of course at work, but I do not see the need for a multi-tier level management system at some workplaces (e.g. level 1, l2, l3, l4, then the big boss).

Doesn't that depend on the size of the company and the way it is organized ?
I can see companies with 50B+ in Sales needing many levels.
If you don't want that, you'd need to organize it as a holding, and have each group / division operate independently.
But that would greatly reduce any true synergiy potential.

Yes, of course, but I am referring to one floor in one building in one site of many sites in a multi billion dollar company. For that one floor, there is l1, l2, l3, l4, etc. I see no need for that many levels.

Insane salaries for board members while the people making things happen get minimum wage. Taking a 10% pay cut will still leave them rich and help a lot of the workers at your companies you cheap bastards.
Insane bonuses when you drive a company into the ground and get fired. HP Sued over Fiorina's Severance - - CFO.com
No more multiple political parties. Make every one just candidates no party affiliation. Just have it be the best person win, no matter what race or gender.

In a large corporation…the kind most likely to HAVE board members…not really. Do the math and you'll see.

First of all, you said "salaries" and "10% pay cut". Salary is not net worth.
Second of all, now you are suggesting that they give up 10% of their net worth? That's rich alright.
Third of all, I wasn't suggesting that they wouldn't still be rich. Try reading my bolded words. 10% of board member's salaries wouldn't amount to squat when divided among that many employees. I'm not saying that it would be a bad thing to do, I'm saying that it wouldn't be much of a help to anyone and that those who suggest things like this haven't really put much thought into it.
Oh and…let's not bring up Bill Gates. He is a very rare example of extreme wealth.

Which was the most expensive iPod available. You'd think they would want to support their customers, not piss them off.

I've already decided I want the upgrade. That's why I'm pushing so hard to try and make it free for everyone.

My point. They make the business calls and they are important, no question for the company. At the same time, the people that make it happen are just as important. However in the corporate world that is NO where, shown financially. One can't exist successfully without the other, yet you have a 95%/5% pay scale difference. However you look at it, its f*cked up for the people that actually make it happen. Thats my issue.
I mainly was referring to the bonuses, not the salaries. These $15 and $20 millions dollar bonuses after they layoff an entire division, type thing.

We don't need another mountain;
There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb
There are oceans and rivers enough to cross, enough to last
till the end of time
We don't need another meadow;
There are cornfields and wheat fields enough to grow
There are sunbeams and moonbeams enough to shine...

Are you talking about board members or CEOs? Board members, if compensated at all, are usually compensated in stock or a relatively small, token honorarium.

Don't need:
* "reality" TV shows (they are all lame at best).
* American-Idol (let the no talent lamers find some other outlet, please!).
* Government bailouts of businesses and people too stupid (and/or greedy) to properly manage their own finances.
* The Geico gekko.
* email SPAM.
* the guy who's always yelling on those OxiClean ads.
* a plastic discount card or member's card for every friggin' store you walk into!
* people who block the isles/counters in stores (especially grocery stores) while the yak mindlessly into their cell phone.
* people who text message while driving.
* people who cannot perform the simple task of parking their car in the center of their space so as not to crowd others on one side.
* the color pink (especially pink christmas trees).
* pet owners who get an animal, then turn around and promptly proceed to neglect/ignore it, or outright abuse it.
* meetings without a clear agenda in hand well prior to the actual meeting.
* stickers on produce like apples, that appears to have been applied with crazy glue.
* ...
... I could be at this all day
