O.K. I know that Apple wants to be known as a GREEN company, and it is doing much to help, but....

I purchased a MacBook Pro recently, and thought it a good investment to purchase the AppleCare contract to extend the coverage. I purchased the computer from Apple's on-line store, so they already had the serial number, etc. recorded under my Apple account.

I logged in my account, and clicked the button provided for me to purchase the AppleCare extension. I assumed they would just add the AppleCare to that computer, but NOoooo. Instead they shipped me a box, which contained another box, and within this second box was a registration code. The delivery person had to come twice, the first time to drop off the form I had to sign, because I wasn't home at the time.

So I open all the boxes, and find a sheet that said I still needed to go back to the Apple site to enter the registration number for my computer. No web link was given, and let me tell you, finding this registration page on the Apple site wasn't easy.

For a company touting itself as GREEN, this has to be the most screwed up way I could imagine to add an extended warranty, and certainly not a very GREEN way.

I don't think that Apple bills itself as a particularly green company, however, you would think that you could purchase AC purely electronically.

I agree somewhat with what you're saying. You make it seem as if you had to wade through pages and pages on Apple's site to find the correct page. I am speaking from experience because my mom just bought applecare for her macbook after the fact (I bought mine at the same time I purchased the computer online, therefore it was done electronically and "green") but for my mothers they shipped the same box and everything.

She couldn't find the website either, and I'll tell you the same thing I told her. See the paper with the registration code on it? On the back the first thing it says is "Go to www.apple.com/support/register" and you are right at that page. Through browsing the site, my mom found the page "apple.com/register" (without the /support) and there is still a link right at the bottom that asks if you are registering Applecare and then gives you a link. It really was pretty straightforward and not as roundabout as you make it seem... however I do agree that the whole thing should be done electronically whether or not you buy it at the same time as your computer.
