...and his list of victims might top 100. At various nursing homes, no less. Remind anyone else of Kill Bill?

THE STORY

Seriously, could this world get any more screwed up?

He also would remain in a room alone with patients for up to an hour at a time, Wilson said.

"We don't know what he's doing in the room with the doors shut so long," she said. "I've questioned him, 'John, why are you in the room so long?' He would tell us all, 'This is none of your business."'
Wouldn't that be a pretty freakin' clear sign that something wrong is happening in those rooms? I blame his co-workers for not caring enough to at least check as much as I blame the assailant.

Good grief! One would think alarm bells would have been ringing for years. There are going to be some lawsuits over this mess.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

Reason #384 that I will refuse to place either one of my parents in a nursing home, no matter how annoying and/or senile they might get once they reach 85.

I'm not going to ask what the other 383 reasons are. I'm 60 and I'm afraid I might not have enough time.

My mom runs a nursing home.

It's a great place.

I'm sure the guy in the story would say the same thing about the place he was in

I've been in one good nursing home. I've been to probably half a dozen that were horribly depressing.

The nice one had fewer patients, cleaner facilities, and I spent a large part of the day talking to the older folks. It seemed to make there day too.

The others...I can't begin to tell you how bad those experiences were. An old man crying in his room, sitting in his own waste, a woman (probably 95-years-old) shuffling buck-naked through the halls, and endless random yelling.

I don't think those are allowed in Canada.

My Grandmother, although she's moving soon, has lived in an assisted living facility around the way that is owned by Marriot hotels. As far as I can tell, it's really cool. AND she actually seemed to like it. She's not crazy either.
