From the perspective of an actual technician with years of experience, the guy who leaked the images just committed professional suicide. He won't get rich off the pictures, he'll NEVER get another job fixing computers (there are no doubt a number of people working on making sure of that right now) and all he's done is piss off a bunch of people. Bad move. Not only unethical, but very stupid too. Target foot, fire! Very dumb. I hope he likes selling fries...

I had no idea who Edison Chen was before today. So, Wikipedia informs me that he's an actor who has apparently slept with an unfairly large number of hot chicks, but why is he "Mr. Goody Two-Shoes"?

He’s always (as far as I know—my knowledge of his career isn’t vast, either) been the perfect young actor, the one all the mother-in-laws were swooning over, taking only the right parts and never stepping out of line.
It always kind of amuses me when people who have an image like that turn out to be just as fallible and human as the rest of us, and what a shock that is to so many people.

There are all sorts of places where people love getting juicy gossip and embarrassing info. I don't know what sites are popular in Hong Kong, but America has 4chan and Japan has 2chan, for example. And some American celebrity gossip sites have been covering the story and posting the pictures as well.
It sounds like "Kira" is just doing it for fun. Some people get a kick out of that sort of thing.

I knew about the "chans" being big on chatter about goings on (I've visited 7chan now and then, when I had far too much order and logic in my life  ), but not much about the kind of chatter.
The thing about this is that "Kira" is going to be traced to an individual, and that individual will find out that he's paid a very high price for his fun. It sounds like the HK authorities are taking this VERY seriously, and anyone involved will be in some serious doo-doo because of it.

I think it's widespread knowledge that Edison Chen is a heartthrob and playboy, having dated some of Hong Kong and Taiwan's most popular starlets; although he's said he is now committed and intends to marry his latest catch, Vincy Yeung, the fortunate niece of Albert Yeung, the CEO of one of HK's biggest media companies. I think we're numbed by Hollywood scandals here in the US, but this scandal has all the makings of sex, power and money high-drama in HK.

Celebrities aren't the sort of thing they usually discuss, but they also generally won't say no to either nude photos or the chance to embarrass someone for allowing private stuff to get out. I remember they were thrilled when those photos of that chick from High School Musical were leaked.
