Looking at the screenshots thread I noticed some people have buddy lists with 50+ people in them.

I am just wondering how well you know the people that are in your buddy list? I have about 20 people in my list, and I really only talk to about 5 of them.

I would like to have more people on the list though! I hardly ever use the iChat AV features...

Too many people on your AIM list can be a bad thing. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. I keep mine very limited.

I don't know many people with AIM/iChat. Only one I talk pretty regular with. The other one is work related.

I have 182 people on my MSN list though.

I haven't used an IM client in a couple of years...

Under 10 nicks, that's for sure.

I have about 230 on my list and although I don't talk to all of them regularly, I chat with most of them at least once in a while or see there away message every few days just to get an idea of what's up with them.

I have no idea how many people I have on my buddy lists (I use Adium and just have them all jumbled up together, so I don’t really know who’s MSN, who’s AIM, and who’s other stuff), but I only open the app about once a month, so it doesn’t make that much of a difference.

I interact via forums a lot more than IM.

I've got like 200, really only talk to about 10-15 daily. I've got at least 20 people's phone numbers on here, I regularly send SMS messages to people from my iChat all day long.

Just in case you wondered if he's still alive...

I used to have 250 and I started to narrow it down when I ran out of space and couldn't add more buddies. I have them grouped now so they're easier to deal with.

I stopped using all IM services because they're pointless for me. Last time I checked I probably had 300 SNs.

I amassed most of the names in HS, now the only people I care about are those I see on a semi-regular basis.

I have about 15 different people and chat to about 5 of them fairly regularly; the rest I hardly ever see online.

We use AIM at work, so that easily populates list. Unlike email, I haven't (yet) separated work and other stuff, but it really doesn't bother me. Over 150 in my list, too.

I use Adium, so these are split over many networks. For some contacts I have multiple screennames entered and merged into one entity. So those numbers would be much higher without doing that. And the count would go down a tad if I weeded out contacts I have never talked to, ones that got added from spam messages, etc.

Also, you can turn off the sounds starman

I know most everyone pretty good on my list. Most of them I talk to fairly often too. But my list is pretty small.
