I have my life and health insurance license, so I can help you with some of your questions. Which plans are you looking at? And do you have any preexisting medical conditions?

well, i am in good shape, i take meds for high cholestorol and anxiety, both are which are under control, i need just "catastrophe" insurance, in case i get hit by a car or something, i have no dependents, and probably will only require for a few months to possibly a year duration (hoping to get employee benefits by then....) i saw something called CHBA, read ALOT of bad reviews about them

CHBA is not insurance. It's a benefits association, an alternative to insurance.
You should look into an individual PPO plan from a well known health insurance provider. You'll get a minor rate up due to the medications you take, but you should be able to get an affordable plan. I'd start at a site like ehealthinsurance.com.

That's basically the premiums that your company had to pay for your health insurance. 600 is not all that bad.
Here in taxachusetts we have to have health insurance and for working middle-class peeps they're paying between 200 to 400 bucks a month, depending on how much credits they get (based on their income). Of course these folks were either uninsured or underinsured.
Not to get political but expect similar results if hillary gets elected for those same un/under-insured people. The working middle class here in Mass. are paying a lot and having to make hard decision because the premiums are so high.

My fiancé and I tried to sign up for Anthem through one of these online services. On the application page it said that the premium would be $200 per month fr the two of us. When we received information back in the mail, they said that I weigh too much and they wouldnt insure me. I am overweight, no doubt, but I am 260 at 6'1". At my thinnest, with a flat stomach, I am 235. I have been to the doctor three times in the past seven years. Go figure.
My fiancé was formerly insured by Anthem through her last job. They said they would insure her, but with her weight and a pre-existing condition of R.A., that her premium would be $600 per month.
We had to decide between living in the Dodge Neon and having insurance, or no insurance. It really sucks with her having this condition and us not being able to get her to her specialists any more. We just relocated, so we don't have everything settled yet. I just wish there was a viable alternative.

well, i respect your opinion macosnerd, but i think 600 per month is outrageous! maybe my name gives it away, but i think the insurance industry makes a heck of a lot of money off of the "little people".... have you seen the buildings they reside in? quite beefy and posh...come catastrophe time, they either don't want to pay, or raise everyones rates...i realize i don't have to buy insurance, thank goodness it is still america, but it would seem that for an "industry" such as this, maybe a little more stringent regulation by the government, for the good of ALL the people would be in order...
