Let's hope this leads to improved import filters in iWork, TextEdit and QuickLook.

As I recall, even the "open" XML formal specification was so convoluted and nonsensical that the Mac Office group gave up implementing a parser and just waited for the Windows Office group to finish theirs so they could port it. I'm not holding out much hope for this being any serious effort at interoperability.
