Wristwatch Review: The MOST...

It seems that wristwatch fashions change every few years and this thread is to help us take a look at some of the MOST notable styles.

The MOST expensive or the BIGGEST or the MOST beautiful or MOST strange or...

There is a watch style I saw recently which I think is absolutely God-awful. It is huge and garish looking to me.

Gevril Ave of Americas

Gevril Ave of Americas LE in Steel on Strap

This one looks HUGE too and though it is like wearing a clock on the wrist, I can understand how it is important that it be big. When you look at the Bell and Ross site I think you will be impressed. One of their watches functions at an underwater depth of 11,000 meters. Bell & Ross Official Website

They make some serious time pieces.

Do you think they actually dropped it in the Mariana Trench? On, like, a really long fishing line?

Sub-question: how many times did they get halfway there and had to start again when a fish ate the watch??

Pretty good imagination and pretty funny, too.

The less imaginative and less funny answer is they used a hyperbaric chamber.

Imagining a grouper gobbling up a wristwatch is pretty comical.

I bet the rescue efforts would be nothing short of Discovery Channel-esque!

Check out these watches from a Japanese site. And for anyone wanting to go 'Super Fly' be sure to notice the watches from Pimp.

Yes. Pimp Watches to go with your ride that's been pimped and what you must wear with your pimp hat and pimp shoes.

Tokyoflash Japan: Browse Unique Japanese Watches

There are more selections at the link.

But a second glance at the Pimp Watches I think the name Pimp is really just wishful thinking and an homage of sorts by some geeky tech guys...or designed to ATTRACT geeky tech guys. The watches are techie cool. Not Pimp cool.

Sorry fellas.

Not a wristwatch but in the realm of time keeping, here is a neat online Alarm Clock.

Online Alarm Clock

Very Jack Bauer-ish. But the colors can be changed and what about the alarm sound? Not too bad. But would it wake you from a sound slumber?

I generally don't wear a wristwatch anymore, considering my phone has a clock on it.

Yeah...it's funny that you don't really hear anything about an "industry death," but watches now seem to be more of a piece of jewelry and less of an essential nowdays. Cell phones have really taken over the "what time is it?" market.

Odd. Never really thought about it before. I don't really know too many people at all who regularly wear a watch anymore.

I know.

But seriously...

Yes. They are stunningly, impressively simple. I really like the Phantom.

And even though I know that for my purposes, any watch over $25.00 is basically going to do what I need it to do, I love looking at fine timepieces. And explain this to me. There is a site with a flash display of a Bell & Ross watch face which shows the correct time, just like any functional watch would. But there is something about it that makes it addicting to look at.

Check it out.

To clarify: The linked image actually shows the correct time and the sweep second hand moves flawlessly.
