While we are here, could I et some confirmation that voicing Garfield in the movies is as low as anyone would want to see Bill Murray go?

But Marmaduke is badly drawn, unfunny, intellectually lazy and ... not wait Garfield is... now I'm confused.

The New York Times : Garfield minus Garfield

An interesting story. Seems Jim Davis likes the "minus Garfield" bit.

“I think it’s the body of work that makes me laugh — the more you read of these strips, the funnier it gets,” Mr. Davis said. As for Garfield himself, “this makes a compelling argument that maybe he doesn’t need to be there. Less is more.”

Proof that Jim Davis really doesn't care anymore and that he is just going through the motions as long as people pay him.

I guess I really like situations that make him come of as completely delusional or downright pathetic, rather than just nerdy.

There's also a book out now, sanctioned by Jim Davis himself. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing…

That's actually really sad, only because I know firsthand what it's like to be interminably, morbidly depressed.

I just feel sorry for Jon. He's not funny; he's pitiable and pathetic.

Also: It stuns me that papers keep Marmaduke around even when they have to cut back on the number of strips they publish daily. It's possibly the worst comic on the planet.

I'm just saying...Jon Arbuckle is REALLY pathetic.. If I weren't on meds, some of those strips would probably end up making me cry and hide under the covers for the rest of the day.

Just sayin'.

For Better or Worse has to be one of the worst strips out there. Also, the endless and indecipherable Phantom.

That and Marmaduke get my votes. I used to read the comics every morning at breakfast (until college, at which point I stopped eating breakfast).

I used to like For Better or Worse because it had an actual story line, but then it got pretty obnoxiously politically correct. I'm not a fan of comics preaching to me unless they are specifically political (e.g. Mallard Filmore, Doonesbury, etc.).
