At first I thought, this is the dumbest idea i've ever heard of... why would anyone care about this? Then i started posting during class one day and the next thing you know I have people following me.
I never say anything of any value.

noone I know follows me... but I just keep posting because people are "following".... although if they're anything like me they may just follow me so I'll follow them and then turn off notification... but then whats the point?

I'm curious if any of you have anything worthwhile to say... gimme your username and I'll see if i can follow...

rogermugs - on twitter... what about ya'll?

I did while it when it first started, but now it's just another annoying way for people to quip at one another.
"Everything's so clear to me now: I'm the keeper of the cheese and you're the lemon merchant. Get it? And he knows it.
That's why he's gonna kill us. So we got to beat it. Yeah. Before he let's loose the marmosets on us."

Nope. I believe there was a thread started on this about a year ago if you're interested to read those responses.

Do I “talk rapidly and at length in an idle or trivial way”? Yes, constantly (this should hardly come as a surprise to most people).

Do I own a Twitter account? No way in hell.

I read a few people's Twitter logs occasionally, but I don't have a Twitter account myself.

I don't really feel like I have anything useful to say in 140 characters and prefer not to create useless chatter.

Twitter will be the final reason God decides to destroy Earth on account of too much useless noise.

Just flicked a booger across the room. It was awesome.

"'Jelly Hat' sounds silly," I told Prince. "How about something poetic, like 'Raspberry Beret.'"

What I want is to be able to send a picture and a bit of text from my iphone to a webpage like twitter. Someone make that happen and I'll probably even pay for it.

I use MoodBlast to simultaneously update Twitter, Facebook, and my iChat & Skype statuses. It's the way this sort of thing should be done

An excellent point and well-made. But that post was just a reply to your post, which was a lot more than 140 characters. If all posts were 140 or less, or if I were expected to come up with my own 140-character posts ex nihilo, I don't imagine I would have a lot to say — much like with Twitter. (For instance, this post is more than double that limit, and it's still pretty light on content.)

I love how you made a point of making sure this post was more than 140 characters.

Heh, I honestly didn't. If I were just stretching for >140 characters, I wouldn't have overshot it by like two and a half times. Like I said, his post was awesome and it made his point well — you can fit useful content into 140 characters. But I still don't think I could generally convey a lot of interesting information that way.

Twitter version: Not everything is a pithy riposte.
