Welcome to BattleBots.com : News and Press
YES!!!
One of my all-time favorite shows! I was crushed when they stopped airing it on Comedy Central.
I hope they bring back Bill Nye, he was a great host for the show.
Go Ziggo! He was the best light-weight bot there. I think he won the Golden Nut three times.
Nightmare and Brawler were always fun to watch for the sheer carnage.
And of course, Toro was the reason they put the CEILING over the cage. He launched another bot clear up past the walls. KABOOM!
Jamie's busy doing Mythbusters, but I wonder if he'll get involved with Battlebots again. He helped to design the arena and a lot of the obstacles, including The Hammer.

Yes! I loved that show.
I was always sad that I didn't get to see the robots slowly evolve into 2 ton walking mecha with laser eyes.
Now my dream can become reality.

New Experimental Class
For both competitions, BattleBots would like to open the door to a new "anything goes," experimental class. There are NO rules and NO weights for this class. Eventually, we'd like to make this into an official class, but for now, we need to experiment, show and tell, and see what you come up with. Just let us know what you're planning to build and we'll do our best to find time to showcase your creation, or pair you up with an evenly matched opponent.
Lasers, flame throwers, tazers... mwuhahahaha! That's gonna be insane!

I'm not gonna lie, I totally forgot about that show. I'm glad to see it will be reencarnated because it was really fun to see what people could make.... and then get destroyed!

I think it would be cool to see if they could make robots that actually had complex enough A.I. to battle by themselves without human control. How cool would that be.
Maybe have them put sensors all over the outside so they can be seen?

Didn't that guy from Mythbusters (sorry, I am too lazy to google) win a bunch of battlebots competitions?

Jamie and Adam had a bot in Robot Wars, however, it was too destructive. It caused other robots to go flying over the walls into the audience. They were forced to retire as Honorary Champions to avoid insurance issues.
They then went over to BattleBots where that same robot didn't do very well at all. BattleBots is a lot more fierce than Robot Wars, and way more destructive.
Jamie stayed on in BattleBots and helped with the design and obstacles for the arena.

Well, I was actually thinking of the Asian guy (name still escapes me and I REFUSE to google him).
But thanks for all that history. I did not know all that.

Yes. I. Am.
[pouts]Now you ruined the joke. I could have dragged the "not gonna google him" joke for a few pages and now you ruined it! [/pouts]

I never really saw a lot of Battlebots, we had Robot Wars over here. The robots for me were Razer (in Robot Wars) and Warhead (in Battlebots). Made by the same guys, the robots were not always reliable but they kicked arse when they worked .

Wow, that'll be much more entertaining than the televised Counterstrike tourney I had the misfortune of stumbling upon on TSN once.
