My mother has two used iBooks that she wants to donate to my daughter's school. Is there somewhere to find the value of the iBooks that she can use for her tax deduction for the donation?

Typically the institution provides the receipt and the fair market value for the donation. Ask them for a receipt. The IRS has been clamping down on what people state on fair market value of non-cash donations lately so you need to be on top of things.

You could check eBay, see what they go for on average.

Every time I donated stuff to charities, I got a blank donation receipt from them, telling me to fill in the value myself.

Most of the time, they ain't got no clue what the stuff is worth.

NO NO NO!
The receiving institution is forbidden under US law from offering a valuation UNLESS they actually sell it, in which case they can value it at what they sold it for. Document the value by printing out ebay auctions or somesuch for similar items.

Exactly - see above - they are, indeed, required to give you a blank receipt.
