Cool, Scary-Weird Item on Coast to Coast AM Creeps me Out

Robotics firm Boston Dynamics has released new video of its most advanced quadruped robot, BigDog. The company received a $10 million DARPA award to "produce a robot with animal-like strength, speed and mobility," Mass High Tech notes. In the footage, the robotic dog is shown climbing a hillside, navigating snowy terrain, and regaining its balance after being kicked.

COAST TO COAST AM WITH GEORGE NOORY
It looks sometimes like two people, sometimes like a huge house-fly, sometimes like a dog, sometimes like a monster.

It is as scary a thing as I have ever seen that is also cool and not meant to be scary.

Thanks for the link. Some great posts there!

And, btw, I think political correctness is going to be the ruin of us.

There's "not being politically correct" and there's "being an ass." You can tell which way I think the poster in the other thread went... You know, "golden rule" and all that.

I don't think it's correct to make it seem like you are being unfairly burdened all the time by not being able to be a random dick and act like other people are in the wrong for saying something about it and calling them political. So stupid to go around just trying to make the world a meaner place.

besides.... Boston Dynamics: The Leader in Lifelike Human Simulation
"Sony Corporation turned to Boston Dynamics for help developing its line of entertainment robots. We adapted our physics-based human simulation to work for Sony’s humanoid robot, QRIO. The result is a physics-based robot simulator used to develop mechanical designs, control systems, and motion planning. Using the simulator, Sony’s engineers test ideas for robot design, control and behavior before building them into the physical robot."

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

I'm meek.

But I like crunchy peanut butter, not creamy.

Baguettes rather than Wonder Bread.

Snickers rather than Three Musketeers.

A little too rough is preferable to a little too smooth.

In my meek opinion.

Veered so far off topic (and yes, I helped that) that even if this wasn't a dupe of an existing thread it would be unsalvageable.

Bye!
