Very good post. Sad isn't it?

Usually, people from past times try to contact a person because they have an ulterior motive. After I graduated from HS, people tried to get together for "coffee" and to catch-up. However, nowadays, one person tries to contact me to be a a buyer for her pyramid scheme (see earlier thread on the subject). There are a few times, however, that the contacting purpose is legitimate and genuine.

I don't believe that, but maybe it's because our class was a tight knit group. I did have one person trying to get me to steal a company directory for him (which I didn't). I've had nothing but good experiences getting back with old friends.

That's a shame. I'm on the class reunion organization committee. We've had nothing but fun at our reunions, and we do the organization ourselves. We even had a 16th and 17th because we had so much fun.

Maybe I just had a class full of 373 good people.

You Americans have a very strong culture in HS. Not saying that others don't, but HS is like a phenomena of sorts of you guys. Sure, my HS was probably not much different, but you won't find too many HS football teams and cheerleaders, etc. at Canadian HS.

Clearly from the posts, however, this is a case-by-case basis thing. In my case, all signs point to turts clarion warning call: nothing good can come of this. Fast forward past the initial rush of seeing someone you have not seen for so many years, and you realize that their crap stinks too, they work like everyone else, etc. etc. If you also have not guessed it, I am sort of a recluse, which is why I would rather share these parts of my life with Turt, Chuckit, and all the rest, than tangible skin jobs.

That doesn't apply to any person. Some people did develop an interesting personality, it's just that with most people they will just contact you out of boredom. It can be nice to see what their current goals in life are , then disconnect again and see how they have developed in another 10 years time. However you are not friends anymore, (and you probably have a very good reason for that) time could have shaved off the sharp edges of her personality and have made her interesting once again.

A few months ago I was contacted by a high school ex, she was recently divorced and wanting to reconnect to see if there was still a spark between us. If circumstances were different, I probably would have considered it. Of course, her phone calls caused a great deal of ribbing at home, but I still played the "what if" game in my mind. I don't think I was in love with her, but there was a huge amount of sex and a strong friendship between us.

All of it came rushing back several years ago when we met again at our 15 year reunion, we talked and danced and it was like we were 17 again. One of my best friends, a real bastard (and the DJ at the reunion), even played "our song" when he saw us dancing together.

To this day I really can't say why it never really worked, but I think we were simply too young to see beyond what we wanted for one summer. She and I will probably always think about what could have happened.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm ****ing touched right now. Really, really touched.

*takes a shaky breath*

I realize that there's no one who's ever felt such a thing for you, but don't stop believin', it might happen before you turn into worm food.
