Anyone post there? Those pansies just banned me again, this time for a week. Just as a joke over there, since everyone starts a new picture thread about EVERYTHING, I started one called "Post your latest booger!". Seems they have NO sense of humor.

Did you get a reason as to the banning? Seems kind of petty.

If everybody was as smart as me they would have figured out by now that it is absolutely foolish to take these sort of pseudo anonymous discussions too seriously. There is no reason why people should get all uppity about stools, boogers, large signatures, the wrong way of lounging, my amazingly clever alter ego whose name I dare not mention, etc.

To a degree, you are correct but by the same token, some of these rules makes sense. I think the biggest example you cited is large signatures. using large over the top graphics affects one's viewing pleasure of a thread. Instead of dealing with the message you only get a handful of responses on a given page because people use gigantic pictures. That is the images detract from the given message within the thread. As for the other examples, I agree with you.

Why not just say "please use a small signature" then, rather than providing precise dimensions and creating situations where people end up bickering about a few pixels?

Wasn't that stricken from all books, journals, momuments, et cetera, and its very utterance forbidden and punishable by death?

because without a definition of what a small signature is, people will be using what ever they want, i.e., my definition of small is different then yours. By having a set standard it means everyone plays by the same rules and keeps the images from overwhelming the threads.

I think so, although maybe for a first timer you'll only disappear from these parts for a month without any real explanation.

Because this is the internet and if you don't draw the line somewhere people will manipulate the system as much as they can.

The irony is, in avoiding the possibly endless discussion of what defines "small" by giving specific dimensions, the door has been opened to a pointless discussion of why it had to be defined. This example illustrates the internet to no end.

Maybe some of us don't want structure to our lounging?

For some reason, the internet keeps insisting on illustrating these naked women showing me their butts every time I open certain webpages!

This forum isn't purely lounging.

Why would you need to create a sig for lunging? It's more work to create a sig than to follow the guidelines anyway.

And that's your right. Just don't frequent forums that have structure and then complain about it.

To put it another way, I generally don't visit other forums that have no limitations on avatars or signatures.

'NN does seem to have a happy medium of rules. They let some things pass and they have structure in other areas. I think what message is being said is more important then how it looks with avatars and sigs so to that end, I don't mind NN's enforcement of rules in that area.

Well, it appears that most of the hostility, bickering, and other assorted drama (of which I've been a part of) has occurred in the Lounge. I still believe that the Lounge should be approached and treated differently. It is not an informational resource like the other sections are.

A separate sig rule for the lounge would be retarded. What happens if you post elsewhere on these forums?

Face it, there's no reason to expect special treatment, especially when we (Lounge denizens) contribute the least to these forums.

Fine then, keep the sig rule the way it is... It doesn't bother me as is, only the very occasional bickering about it - the OMG sig violation in sector G sort of stuff...

I'm going to petition for minimum sig rules, and openly police them.

I see you're going with all black again. You know, they're doing wonderful things with floral prints these days. It is Spring. Edit: Oops, like I should talk.
