To all you fellow Firefly fans, Fox has confirmed that a new edition is being prepared for Blu-ray release. It will include some new extras, but unfortunately, no new episodes.

I've noticed they keep getting the DVD money from us (Firefly does well on Amazon) but they have yet to come through with more episodes. Or a second movie. My suggestion to Fox: set aside a percentage of the sales revenue. When the balance gets big enough to fund further production, the production starts.

Nice to know its still getting some attention, and it was a really great series, but I've got the DVD's already so I'm not really that fussed on re-buying it at full price for some extra commentary and cutscenes etc. But if it gets them more money for Serenity 2 or a mini series or something, go for it!

ajprice, why is zoe missing from your sig?

I just got the extended box set for christmas, and no blu-ray dvd player, so I don't think I'll be buying this. I would however buy new content in a heartbeat.

I originally found the picture on Google, didn't realise about Zoe not being there. Just looked for Lego Firefly again and found a pic with Zoe in there too, so quite soon she will magically appear in my sig .

Only one?! Don't you know the cardinal rule with Firefly & Serenity? You buy two copies; one for yourself, and one to loan out to people. That way you always have a copy to watch. If you don't own at least two copies, you need to hand in yer Browncoat Card.

FOX refused to sell Firefly after both SciFi and Paramount made offers. Then, FOX refused to license Firefly to Paramount for the Serenity movie. Yeah, FOX turned down free money and royalties. Paramount had to only work with Joss Whedon's copyright which included the character likenesses, but not the ship or the show name. They had to make a new Serenity ship model that was different than the one in the show, and couldn't use the word "Firefly."

For whatever reason, FOX is pretty adamant about making sure that Firefly dies.

The extra copy is for the people you don't know.

I now own all three versions of Serenity that I know of:
The original, standard DVD edition
The "special edition" two DVD set
The HD-DVD version of the original edition

Is this franchise really that good? I know very little about it, although I have heard good things from friends.

I had my doubts, but then I watch the series all the way through, plus the movie, and I really enjoyed it. I didn't think the Western-in-space theme would grow on me, but the characters and stories were really good and well done.

Too bad it's canceled.

You can (last I checked) watch the whole series on Hulu.

I hate to say it, but I never saw anything special in it - couldn't make it through more than a few episodes.. There's some clever dialogue, but it's unbelievably hokey and cheesy. Everyone's just too pretty and transparent, the sets are too clean and fake looking and the plot is as formulaic as any other series.

The dialogue is good, but not Hitchhiker good... And I enjoyed the movie.

I think so. It's my second favorite TV series of all time. I can literally put on any episode at any time and I know I'll enjoy it.
