So when do we (in the U.S.) get our "economic stimulation" money?

Has anyone gotten theres yet?

Since I can't find a straight answer online, does any one know how much they finally agreed on?
What, me worry?

Did you try irs.gov? They've got a distribution calendar posted and the exact date depends on whether you filed your 2007 tax returns via snail-mail or electronically and the last two numbers of your soc. There's also a calculator to give you the approximate amount of your loot.

ah very cool. I didn't realize it was being handled by the IRS, and doing so by those who file their taxes. Looks like I'm getting $300. Nice.
What, me worry?

who else would handle if it wasn't the IRS? they handle all tax payment/refunds. the stimulus is a refund in it's truest form.

My last two digits fall under May 2nd and my wife's fall under the May 9th. We filed jointly with my name first. I wonder when it'll be deposited?

Anyone got any plans for their cheque?
I think I'm going to sell my Nikon D50 and get a D300.

They go by the first listed SSN for the "main filer", so you'll get your deposit by midnight on May 2. My situation is the opposite of yours; my last two digits are in the May 9 group, while my wife's are in the May 2 group. I'm still not going to complain.

And this is not a "refund." It's called a "rebate." Very different. A refund is returning money that you overpaid, while a rebate is returning money that you paid legitimately. In either case, this stimulus thingy is more of a "give the taxpayers some cash so they'll stop harping about how hard things are and start contributing to my reelection campaign" act by Congress. Do not be fooled by the terminology; politicians are not above calling a pile of horse poop "pre-crop enhancement" if they think it'll get them noticed and liked.

We're having our fence replaced. Six years on, a privacy fence made of untreated wood is not going to look very good. Guaranteed.

rebate or refund, the fact of the matter that all of that is handled by the IRS. since it is going to taxpayers...and that is handled by the IRS. see what i mean? i was asking the poster who else would it be? i can't think of any other "arm" of the government that would do it.

The stimulus checks don't start being deposited for another couple of weeks. Are you talking about your income tax refund maybe?

Could have been the treasury department.

Grant that I knew it was being paid out to those who pay taxes, I didn't know if it meant this (last) years taxes or to anyone who had ever paid taxes (of course if you've paid them before you you still be paying them now is your alive and conscious )

As with most of the things the goverment says; there was a lot of talking, but no real details.
What, me worry?

Savings account. It will eventually be spent on something.

I just bought a new MacBook, so I've done my part to stimulate the economy. You guys can do the rest.

I suggest everyone goes out and buys new floors for their house. That would be of the most benefit to me.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

I get $600 according to my online Turbotax refund. I'm too lazy to see if it matches with the IRS website. It'll be saved.

Yeah, I was being pedantic-but not at you. More at the congresscritters that said "do this" without necessarily coming up with a way to pay for it ahead of time. It's still not clear what this may show up as in next year's tax season.

I read the title as inquiring about our "stimulation monkey", which would be lots more fun.

What type of receipt are you talking about? Even government employees don't get it till May at the earliest. You didn't get it yet.

It's on my accountant's receipt to me, which categorically lists all money owed to me. The only thing I can think of is that my accountant advanced this to me along with the refund. (I've received advances before)

I was thinking that same thing... an advance makes the most sense.
