Just hopped onto Apple's website, and it looks like educational discounts are no longer 10%, they're closer to 5%. Did Apple just half the discount on educational purchases?

Edu discounts were never a fixed percentage. Each product line has a flat amount knocked off all (or most) models in the line. The MacBook and MacBook Pro still have the same edu price points that I remember, so I'm guessing you're just looking at a different product line — perhaps the recently refreshed iMacs, where the discount works out to around 7%

Oh. Maybe I was just lucky and I always got around 10% on purchases. Go figure.

That’s odd. Over here, the edu discount only applies to certain products, but it’s always 10 per cent, for all products.

Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

Man, I remember the times when there were discounts on iPods. Good times. Good times.
