I have had the Braun 7680 Razor for over a year now and never had any problems with it. Today, I attempted to charge and clean it like I do every week. The cleaning went through fine but it never charged. I turned the razor on and off and even shaved again and then put it back on the charger. It still is not picking up a charge. When I put the razor on the docking station, the electronic words are upside down. Normally, when I put the razor on the docking station, the words are right side up so I can read it. I am not sure what the issue is. If anyone has any help or suggestions, please email me at NHLNied27@aol.com or respond to this thread. Thanks so much.

There are three contacts on the bottom of the razor. These contacts get electrically dirty over time. when in the dock, rotate the razor slightly and see if it doesn't turn the LCD upside up. The act of rotating the razor a little will cause the contacts to clean themselves through the friction. Alternately, take a qtip with alcohol on it and wipe the metal contacts, which will also clean them.

Be REAL careful if you do the qtip - there are contacts for the travel charger cable around the edges, and if you bend those, it wouldn't be good.
If this post is in the Lounge forum, it is likely to be my own opinion, and not representative of the position of MacNN.com.

Thank you for the tip, but it did not work. The LCD screen is still upside down and it will not charge.

which did you do? qtip, or rotating it?

with it in the dock, and applying pressure from the dock connector (lightly, it's already got springs in it) twist it a little.

I tried the Q tip. It is kind of difficult to rotate the prongs because the top part comes down onto the razor and not much movement is allowed.

I know. I have a 7570 that works the same way.

Seriously, you don't rotate the prongs, grab the razor with it docked and rotate the razor as much as it allows.

OK so I figured out the problem. I pushed the top part of the docking station that attaches to the razor down and the charge light went on and the LCD screen flipped so I could read it. The only problem is I have to put pressure on the top part in order for it to stay that way. Once I release the pressure and take my hand off, the lights turns off and the LCD screen turns upside down. Any suggestions?

by applying pressure, you're pushing down on the spring-loaded contacts in the dock side of the connection. So, either the contacts aren't springy (test this by seeing if they feel spring loaded with the razor out of the dock) or your pressure is pushing them through the dirty electrical connection.

use a pencil eraser to erase any dirt or tarnish on the three spring loaded dock contacts.

I tried cleaning off the contacts but that did not work. It seems that the middle prong is slightly bent. I am not sure if it is manufactured like that because of the way the razor goes into the docking station or bent as time went on. I had to put a piece of tape near the blue release button in order for the docking station to make full contact with the razor so it can be charged. This is so frustrating. I am at a loss for what to do. Thanks for your help.

The middle prong is supposed to be a little longer than the others, but not bent - it should be in line with the other two.

OK perhaps the middle prong is bent, however should it work when more pressure is put on it if the middle prong is bent?

putting pressure on it is overcoming the pin being out of place and causing it to make contact anyway.

any chance you can pull it straight? It is supposed to be spring loaded.

Trying to straighten the middle prong did not work. I still need to apply pressure for the razor to charge. If no one else has any suggestions, I am going to have to put a piece of tape over the razor and just deal with it. Thanks to everyone so far for all of your help.
